Scooby-doo Mystery
Revisado: 12-15-23
I approached ‘The Weekend Away’ with high expectations, influenced by its glowing reviews. However, my experience was underwhelming. The writing style reminded me of a light-hearted Scooby-Doo episode, particularly in how the main character seemed to overplay the ‘gotcha’ moments. Contrary to the Amazon description of it being ‘a totally gripping psychological thriller with a heart-stopping twist,’ I found the plot quite predictable and lacking in depth.

Great story but..,
Revisado: 07-23-23
I really enjoyed the story and the twists. I’m not sure if it was the narration or the story, but the male primary character drove me crazy. He just seemed very immature and made some terrible decisions. The narrators also had very bad voices for the opposite sex.

Historia
Nora Stephens' life is books—she’s read them all—and she is not that type of heroine. Not the plucky one, not the laidback dream girl, and especially not the sweetheart. In fact, the only people Nora is a heroine for are her clients, for whom she lands enormous deals as a cutthroat literary agent, and her beloved little sister Libby.

Why is this book rated so high?
Revisado: 11-20-20
I struggled to finish this one. There were so many places that I skipped - too many dumb details that just weren’t necessary. Maybe it was the performance and would read differently but it drove me nuts.

Historia
Two years ago, everything changed for the remaining members of the Seattle rock band Tempest. Two years is a long time. Too long to keep on remembering. Not nearly long enough to forget. In trouble with nowhere else to go, songstress Lace Lowell seeks refuge with the band during their stop in New York City. It's a risky move for her because they are both there, two impossibly good looking men whose lives are inseparably entwined with hers.

How could the performance have been better?
The male narrator drove me totally crazy - I felt that he made Bry sound like a moron.
