Historia
Sarah Matamoros can’t complain. After immigrating from Mexico when she was nine years old, she’s content with the life she’s made for herself in sunny San Diego. She works hard at her mother’s housecleaning service by day and spends the evenings with her quirky eight-year-old daughter, Grace. From a very young age, Emory Owen had several concepts drilled into her head. Success is everything. Be the best. Fight your way to the top. Expectations were high in the Owen household and the world was watching. Born into a high society family, Emory never wanted for anything...at least anything money could buy.

Loved it but the use of “y’all…
Revisado: 01-13-24
I LOVED this book and the whole series! The narrator was great and easy to listen to as well. The ONLY thing that got me is the use of “y’all” as a singular pronoun. (Please don’t pick on me before you read on and maybe understand). I grew up in North Georgia in a town right next to Dawsonville. We even had a major road in our town called Dawsonville Hwy. I had friends from there and I also had other friends who had family from there that I was around frequently. The use of “y’all” as a singular pronoun left with the 70’s unless you were 30 or older. The only time it’s used as a singular pronoun is if someone is referring to someone not knowing if it’s more than one person. Or you go to a friend’s house where multiple people live but your friend is the only person home. You will likely greet your friend “How y’all doin’?” Referring mostly to that person but opening the conversation to talk about the others that aren’t present.
I know it’s a bit nit-picky, but it’s a misnomer that won’t seem to go away, like I said, unless you were 30 or older in the 70’s.

I loved this series so much! Please tell me it’s going to continue!! I thought the storyline was great! Especially between Alex and Tyler! I love Lori Prince, too, but this was by far her best narrating!

Historia

When Abi Kitson fell in love she always knew it would go unrequited. The woman of her dreams was so close yet seemingly untouchable for so many reasons. Historia
Free-spirited and easygoing Taylor Vandenberg left her hometown of Faircombe, Tennessee, as soon as she could, and in the twenty-five years since, she has rarely looked back. She wouldn't change anything about how her life has turned out—having traveled to nearly every country, never staying anywhere long enough to feel stifled. Brooke Watson has known Taylor for her entire life, and lifelong knowledge means that Brooke knows she's trouble: irresponsible, takes nothing seriously, and irritatingly attractive.

I loved this story! Anastasia’s smooth as silk voice was a perfect fit! I was able to visualize every word and to me that’s a tribute to both the author and narrator. About half way thru I was hoping there were more Brooke and Taylor stories but now I feel it was perfect just as it it is.

Historia
Romance novelist Jackie Mitchell has built a life that works: few responsibilities, friends that know she’s far from outgoing, and sex whenever she needs it. She has her past, but she doesn’t think about it. Ever. All that changes when she finds the child she gave up for adoption standing on the doorstep. Now 16 years old, Beth Weber is resourceful, a blossoming artist, and a spitting image of her birth mom. To say Jackie is stunned is the understatement of the year.

Historia
Tim Donovan is a Catholic priest with a guilty conscience - though not in the way you’d guess. And Katherine Donne is a Parisian socialite who long ago kicked her self-respect to the curb - for good and for ill. And much closer, we have a group of men whose fortunes, graying temples, and positions in life are distinguished and enviable. But their morals? Anything but. And that’s where Evan Reed comes in.

I love everything about this story! Both of the Evan and Julia’s stories. I love the mystery I love how they talk to each other! It reminds me of how my wife and I talk to and tease each other. And Christine Williams does an amazing job of bringing everyone to life! I think we need more Evan and Julia!

"True belonging doesn't require us to change who we are. It requires us to be who we are." Social scientist Brené Brown, PhD, LMSW, has sparked a global conversation about the experiences that bring meaning to our lives - experiences of courage, vulnerability, love, belonging, shame, and empathy. In Braving the Wilderness, Brown redefines what it means to truly belong in an age of increased polarization.

My new hero
Revisado: 03-20-18
A colleague of mine recommended this book one day after we were talking about how horribly people treat each other anymore. I kept saying why can’t we all just get along??
Ms. Brown validated how I have felt in discussions and arguments I have had with people and even “discussions” I have read online that are solely “you’re either with me or against me” battles.
Braving the Wilderness has given me tools to start practice taking care of myself in those situations and so many others. I will be buying a hard copy to have on hand and keepit close by.
I recommend this book for anyone who thinks they don’t fit in anywhere and feels they should and for the people who are trying to understand why we all can’t just get along!
