Historia
Some say that this work, found in a safe-box in the port area of Kowloon, was dictated because Bronze Age Pervert refuses to learn what he calls "the low and plebeian art of writing". It isn't known how this work was transcribed. The contents are pure dynamite. He explains that you live in ant farm. That you are observed by the lords of lies, ritually probed. Ancient man had something you have lost: confidence in his instincts and strength, knowledge in his blood. BAP shows how the Bronze Age mind-set can set you free from this iron prison and help you embark on the path of power.

I’m all about alternate viewpoints. This book does nothing but fantasize about “great” men in ancient history and mock current man for not behaving as did the ancients.

It's America in 1962. Slavery is legal once again. The few Jews who still survive hide under assumed names. In San Francisco, the I Ching is as common as the Yellow Pages. All because some twenty years earlier the United States lost a war - and is now occupied by Nazi Germany and Japan.

This is a compelling story that literally goes nowhere. The story builds and builds to what should be an enormous reveal that simply isn’t there. I was extremely disappointed.

Historia
Muhammad's was a life of almost unparalleled historical importance, yet for all the iconic power of his name, the intensely dramatic story of the prophet of Islam is not well known. In The First Muslim, Lesley Hazleton brings him vibrantly to life. Drawing on early eyewitness sources and on history, politics, religion, and psychology, she renders him as a man in full, in all his complexity and vitality. Hazleton's account follows the arc of Muhammad's rise from powerlessness to power, from anonymity to renown.

Good story, narration...
Revisado: 03-26-17
This is an excellent book concerning the life and times of Muhammad. It was far more detailed than I expected, and I appreciate that.
The authorship is excellent. However, there are portions of the book that are taken word for word from Hazelton's Life After the Prophet. The re-telling of the stories are fine and stated correctly, but I would think that Hazelton could have changed some of the verbiage around the stories a little. I'm being pretty picky here.
The narration was a little off-putting. The woman performing has kind of a news reporter from the 1980s vibe about her. I'd describe it as a bit of up-talking at the end of long passages. Again, I'm being picky.

Interesting and Educational
Revisado: 03-22-17
Islam is a topic very interesting to me. It's difficult to find any type of documentation that isn't severely biased as well. I found that this book was exceedingly well researched, organized and presented. The book was laid out in an easy to follow fashion that educated without being boring.
I would recommend this book to someone that wants to learn facts concerning Islam and the background as to why there is such strife within the Muslim community.

The Psychopath Test is a fascinating journey through the minds of madness. Jon Ronson's exploration of a potential hoax being played on the world's top neurologists takes him, unexpectedly, into the heart of the madness industry. An influential psychologist who is convinced that many important CEOs and politicians are, in fact, psychopaths teaches Ronson how to spot these high-flying individuals by looking out for little telltale verbal and nonverbal clues.

Interesting at times...
Revisado: 02-09-17
The story itself is ok. It is interesting at times and at others it drones on and on. My major issue with this audiobook was the performance. The author was less-than gripping. A very monotonous voice and actually very boring. Perhaps I'm just used to actors performing the book?

Historia
In this definitive history of the modern Arab world, award-winning historian Eugene Rogan draws extensively on Arab sources and texts to place the Arab experience in its crucial historical context for the first time. Tracing five centuries of Arab history, Rogan reveals that there was an age when the Arabs set the rules for the rest of the world. Today, however, the Arab world's sense of subjection to external powers carries vast consequences for both the region and Westerners who attempt to control it.

Interesting and informative
Revisado: 09-10-16
This was my first dive into Arab history beyond general knowledge. My fear was that the sheer amount of information would be overwhelming, especially for a commute book. I was very pleased with the way information was presented. The performance kept my attention well during my commute.
The actual writing was excellent. I appreciate the interconnectedness of the region in a much greater way now and I'm looking forward to more books centered on Arabs.

Historia
On November 22, 1963, three shots rang out in Dallas, President Kennedy died, and the world changed. What if you could change it back? In this brilliantly conceived tour de force, Stephen King - who has absorbed the social, political, and popular culture of his generation more imaginatively and thoroughly than any other writer - takes listeners on an incredible journey into the past and the possibility of altering it.

What a performance!!
Revisado: 05-27-16
This is a tremendous novel. Easily the most interesting I've had the pleasure to enjoy for a very long time. However, performance by Craig Wasson was the best narration I've ever experienced. I felt as if I were watching a movie as I listened to his performance. I experienced the character's emotions as if I were in the room with them.
A tremendous book and an equally top notch performance.

American Apathy Apparent
Revisado: 08-01-15
This is a great concept piece, showing that, with American apathy, despotism CAN happen in the United States.
The story is pretty slow in developing, but it is necessary to build the plot and characters correctly. The story could have gone in to much greater detail concerning the developments of the governmental policies. I believe very little detail was given and, compared with the detail given virtually every other portion of the novel, this area falls flat.
A very good novel to remind ourselves that anything can happen.
