Forty years later, the pain of his personal tragedy still echoes within John Hopper. He retreats to the small town, Ripley, West Virginia, and is content being alone and in peace. All may not be as expected. John not only finds himself bringing people into his shelter, he learns that Ripley, the predicted safest place on earth, may very well become one of the worst places imaginable

I really enjoyed this book. I've listened to other books by this author and have been pleased every time. I loved the characters and the "feel good" vibe of the book. Most post apocalyptic books are too gory now days and I'm so over it. This book was refreshing in that aspect. The narrator did a great job.

Don’t let the sample stop you from listening to this book. I was not going to buy it but I thought hey, let’s just try. Great book! Great stories about hardship, healing, and trusting.

This was a good book. It started out slow snd did not really pick up but it was good anyway. Surprisingly it is a stand alone book and not a part of a series. But it would be and great way to start a series.

Great book...Armageddon the movie without the spaceships. The story of survival and community was spot on. My first book from this author...looking forward to more.
