I ended up enjoying this story a lot more than I had thought I would. The description of the book was a bit misleading (while being 100% true of the book), but I suspect that was intentional. I figured Beth was on a mission to find a delicious dish in order to keep Sam from breaking up with her. And she was...until that backfired. Hence the winter storm search for a dish to make for Sam and his parents. Overall, a very cute HEA story.

I think Karie Silko's voice worked well for this story. She wasn't the best I've heard at intoning male voices, but she still did pretty well at it. I enjoyed her performance.

The narrator was very close to the voice I heard in my head when I read the book.

Since I'd already read the short book, I knew I'd enjoy the story. The narrator was quite good with this material.

Hearing the character's frustration and anxious attempts to make things work out was a lot of fun.

What was one of the most memorable moments of A Crispy Rice Christmas?

The tale of the souffle Beth's mother made was a hoot! As were many of Beth's and her mother's cooking exploits.

What does Karie Silko bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Hearing her voice helped me picture a young, attractive woman. She used the often-repeated phrases, "in my defense," and "in Sam's defense," to great effect!She does a good job of building suspense.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Toward the end, I laughed out loud. Otherwise, I smiled a LOT. And I really wanted to know what was going to happen, with all the "in my defense" build-up!
