When twenty-something Kevin Felton loses his job and moves back in with his mother, he assumes life can't possibly get any worse. He used to be somebody at a big time company—now he's just another nobody with no direction and nothing to do but get drunk and fantasize over the strange blue woman that lives in his dreams.

Little does he know, there’s more to his world than he ever imagined, and he’s about to be thrown headfirst into a particularly deadly kind of fantasy. Things start to look up when Kevin stumbles into a wild romance with the woman he thought was just a dream, a water nymph with a magical and mysterious past.

There's just one problem: his new lover left a fiancé at the altar, and that man just happens to be Death himself. In a desperate attempt to save his own life, Kevin—alongside Driff, an elven secret agent with questionable loyalties, and Ren, a longtime friend who knows more than he's letting on—befriends the reaper and must find a way to hook Death up with someone new before his own role in events comes to light.

I loved this story from the very opening scene! So many great characters, all brought to life by the narrator. I got wrapped up in the humor and snark, but then the story got real! It goes places you don't expect and wraps up very nicely in the end. I can't wait for the next one!

Scott Colby wrote a great book. Jason L. Bishop narrated it great. The story is interesting, keeps you guessing, and an overall good book. The main character gets in to trouble several times throughout the book. It’s action pact.

This is a wicked clever story that takes a bit to build. It’s worth hanging on for and the narrator does a fabulous job keeping you engaged and listening!

Imagine that you woke up one day and discovered that not only nobody in your area can die despite their brains being blown out of their head, humans are not the only intelligent species there is, you've been unknowingly enjoying intimate moments with a blue water nymph that is apparently in love with you but also that whatever is happening in your town is all undoubtedly your fault. You would probably guess that your day is going to get pretty interesting... * I loved the story! If you like fantasy genre, go right ahead, very well written and narrated.

Grim Reaper gets dumped and depressed

It was darker than books I normally listen to. Full of dark humor in a modern setting. The plot was full of surprises. I thought I had it figured out after the first hour, but it kept surprising me.
I felt the author captured the bored apathy of a small town with a twist that made me want to keep listening.
The narrator was excellent at delivering the story and bringing the characters to life.

I thoroughly enjoyed the performance and the new story arch. I did not realize when.i started this would be the first book of a series and now I have to read the next book.

Admittedly, I'm not usually into this genre but I happened across this book and am very glad that I listened to it. I am waiting patiently for the rest of the series to drop.

This is a unique take on the Grim Reaper. I really enjoyed this story because it was full of action, cryptic species, intrigue, drama, and comedy. I would highly recommend this book to anyone 18 and up who loves this genre. I received this book for free upon my request. I am voluntarily leaving this review of my own volition.

I listened to the audiobook. It is solo narration. The narrator did a great job bringing this story to life. There were definitely laugh out loud moments, and I found the plot very interesting. The ending wrapped up the while book nicely, and I would recommend the audio.
