I stopped this story with 28 minutes to go because I never got invested. The story flowed naturally and I enjoyed the narration. The main characters just changed their intentions like they do in soap operas. I can’t stand that but maybe you love soap operas (so many do) and you should give it a try.

Absolutely loved this story. Broke the age barrier of conventional norms, especially for historical time frame. The characters were delightful & overall story totally entertaining.

Both male and female characters had interesting vocations, which enriched the story. And finally a talented narrator for this genre! So many books are made intolerable by narrators with breathy, high pitched and/or stilted tones it was a relief to find this one!

Made something special out of her mistake!

Its a sweet story. I enjoyed the characters, the female character was slightly moody but not detrimentally so, since her back story and build up is satisfying. The storyline flowed nicely and the narrator did a good job; her voice was very soothing when female characters spoke, but for some reason I did not enjoy her narration voice of the male lead. She made him sound more sinister than sensual, in my opinion. If it weren’t for the ending I would have probably given the story 5 stars. The ending felt lazy and not at all clever, especially from a woman who claims to have contained the biggest scandals for a decade.

I tried but could not get into this book. Little excitement, narrator was terrible so much so I won’t be listening to anymore of her book narrations.

Do not buy

While the writing style was adequate, the storyline was moronic. The FMC is obsessed with anyone learning of her tarnished virtue. This might feel relevant if she was a teen or early 20s but she is 35! She is a self-proclaimed spinster. Who is endlessly telling the reader that she is much to old for men, romance or having a life of any satisfactory or happy life. Her constant wish is to escape, to resign from her work and live in the country. Yet she is terrified the Ton will find out about her past indiscretion. The story goes on long after any interest remained from this audience. Unfortunately, it doesn't get better just more ridiculous.
