Acerca de esta escucha

Mitchell Irwin isn’t the sort of a man who believes in second chances. Once upon a time, this respected Shakespearean actor sold his soul to Hollywood in exchange for fame and fortune. Ignoring a warning to be careful what you wish for, he has become a cynical, world-weary celebrity searching for escape from rumors of another scandal.

He finds sanctuary in a remote little fishing village populated by artists, poets, and fishermen who don’t know who he is.

One extraordinary woman, whose talent rests in painting portraits of visitors' soul mates, is willing to hide his secret, until a stranger arrives from the outer island...that place out there. You know the one. Right?

Somewhat reminiscent of Shoeless Joe in its theme of redemption through conflict resolution -- helped along by spiritual understanding, humor, and, ultimately, love, the story centers on three people -- one an internationally known film actor, who is plagued by contract disputes as well as a vengeful, almost ex-wife; another, a lonely divorcee -- who find the obscure town apparently accidentally, to be befriended and guided by Eileen, a woman with "a special talent."

The townsfolk in the fishing village -- itself a Biblical metaphor for seeking -- and a cat named Myra (at least, Myra is one of her names!), provide enjoyable examples of beings who know how to be content. As the two new arrivals adjust to the ways of the village, they find that the environment that they at first considered eccentric provides them with more answers than they could have anticipated.

Delightful!
