Acerca de esta escucha

After her fiancé returns from the Klondike gold rush in 1897, Florence Harms sets about building a new life in her new marriage - even though the lingering effects of illness have left her weak and vulnerable. She and her young husband, Will, work tirelessly to clear the land around their Northwest cabin, content with their modest life. But then a stranger comes knocking and Florence suddenly senses a restlessness in Will's spirit that she had never seen before.

When he leaves her with only a note that tells her he will return before their baby's birth, she is devastated, and the illness that stiffened her joints returns. Counting the days until Will walks back through her door, Florence busies herself with a Tree of Life quilt displaying a map of the farm they call home. Doubts claw at her heart as Florence struggles to believe Will's promise to return to her. Will her labor of love - and faith in God - sustain her as she waits to see her beloved once again?

I enjoyed this story. It was very calm and easy. It’s a great story about hope and trust.

A sweet story about hope and trust

What I loved most about this book was the sense of family and community, the deep resonating love for God in all their actions and words, and their resolute trust in God. When all else is God, God is still steadfast and true!

I enjoyed this, don't get me wrong... but it felt like there was a lot of cutting edits and a lot missed.

Great but alot missing

I enjoyed the book. Was disappointed at the way it ended. All of a sudden it was over. I actually went back to listen to the last few chapters to see what I had missed.
But that didn’t help

Good story and characters

I didn’t care for the orator but the story was sweet & characteristic of that era. Since I live in the Willamette Valley it’s mispronunciation by the orator was a bit irksome but someone else wouldn’t notice. This quilt series is very good. There are 20 different books so far & all a bit different. Some of them are FREE through Audible Plus Catalog which makes me happy.

This installment of the Quilts of Love Series is a wonderful, heartfelt tale of faith and learning to wait upon the Lord during extreme circumstances, of which us modern folks have no inkling. Newly married Florence has rheumatism in her joints and suffers from debilitating pain as she makes her home in the woods with husband, Will. Readjusting her dreams of a nice home to the small cabin that they live in and accepting the plans that God has for the two of them, Florence learns to tame her tongue and expectations, while Will works as hard as he can to provide for his wife and their future. Soon Florence is feeling queasy and lightheaded and her aunt suspects that she is pregnant. But before she can verify if she is with child or not, Florence has a dangerous episode which causes them to fetch the doctor, and he puts her on bed rest. It seems that the Lord is teaching her, in little steps, to wait upon him. Eventually she feels the fluttering of her baby's movements and knows that they will be having a little one by Christmas time, if only she can carry him or her until full term. And then, Will leaves . . . with only a note to say he will return by the time their baby is born. During his long absence, Florence learns to turn to God more than ever. And it is then that she has a dream of a quilt that she is to make for Will. This is a sweet and beautiful story of a growing faith, during a time in American history that is very interesting to me. Enjoy!

Only mispronounced the Willamette River and valley. Otherwise I thought the narrator was VERY good. It was pretty neat hearing an historical story with its setting where I live now.

Great story

While the stories are written by different authors, the use of a quilt to blend the stories continues to be a great theme. This story while a little slow in the beginning was also another great read. Truly inspirational and a great reminder of “what faith” can do. I could visualize the characters and relate to their hardships and challenges.

Another enjoyable story in this series

I enjoyed listening to this story. The narrator's voices were distinctive for each character portrayed. The story was about learning to believe and to lean on the promises of God in our everyday living. Most enjoyable was the antics of the dog.
