Acerca de esta escucha

This deceptively small and simple book holds a great secret - the secret to achieving peace of mind in Christ. Beloved writer and teacher Dr. Al Rossi uses stories from his own life to illustrate the basic principles of watchfulness and prayer. The final chapter is a moving tribute to Dr. Rossi's close friend of many years, Fr. Tom Hopko, whose Fifty-Five Maxims are also helpful in learning to say at all times, "All is well".

I am grateful that in a time of great hatred, when we look at people as expendable and not dynamic, when division is around every corner, that a book like this exists.

Dr. Rossi composes a series of discussions on topics that can veer Christians away from the peaceful truth we have in Christ; All Is Well. No matter the circumstances, the feelings, the state of ourselves... all is well. I appreciate Dr. Rossi’s humility, care, and love for the human condition and how he shares each topic with a heart full of compassion and empathy. I highly recommend this book, especially in audible form if you, like me, have limited free time to sit and devour a good book. I cherished being able to listen to his words as I engaged in a hobby (an activity encouraged in the book), and felt as though I was sitting on a couch as he spoke words of life over me. I am grateful for the opportunity to review this book and encourage you to read it in any form you can.

Lovely little book, that was a quick listen. BUT - don't just zoom through it! Read a little and then sit with it for a bit. This is the kind of book I know I will listen to multiple times, and each time glean something new from it. Such wonderful, gentle Orthodox wisdom and advice. At first I struggled with the author's measured narration, until I realized that this was one more place that our hurried GoGoGo culture was impacting me. The audiobook gave me the opportunity to slow down and be really intentional and present. I no longer have a living grandfather, and so it became such a nice time when I would sit and listen to a voice that epitomizes Grandfathers.

Download this, then snuggle up with a cozzy blanket and hot tea, and imagine sitting and conversing with Albert Rossi.

Like a conversation with your kind, wise Grandpa.

I have really enjoyed this book & will certainly purchase it as a physical book to have on hand. This author provides useful insights into ways to approach life whether one is an Orthodox Christian or not or even a person lacking in faith. I highly recommend this book.

"All Is Well" is a short but beautiful book by Dr. Albert Rossi whose message is always important, and is desperately needed by all who are experiencing challenges in their lives. Throughout the course of the book, Dr. Rossi shares profound Orthodox insights, as seen through his professional lens as a psychologist. Additionally, he layers in personal reflections in a conversational tone that make this book relatable and even more impactful. As I read the book, I felt the truth of the title: all is well.

Throughout the book, Dr. Rossi reminds us Christians what is important in our earthly ministry, of core Orthodox principles, and how we can develop our inner peace as we deepen our walk with Christ.

Dr. Rossi narrated the audiobook, and as such, allows the audience to hear the tone, pace, and humor as he intended.

Overall, this book was so beautiful, I began recommending it to friends and family before I even finished it. I am sure that I will return to it throughout my life and hope it is a blessing for you as well.

Nourishing and Encouraging - Highly Recommended

I was hoping to be inspired and grow. I was significantly distracted by the content in the chapter, "All is pure." At some point I was outright offended when the author spoke of an affair between a college professor and his student in which most of the blame seem to fall on the student. I think my anger arose when the word "harlot" was used. The situation implied that the professor was merely a victim who was seduced by the student. I was also caught off guard when the author said most angry men have a pornography addiction. Unless there is factual data to back up this outlandish claim, I don't see the benefit of sharing such a harmful judgment.

What drove me to write this review was his polar description of the woman's body as being heavenly (via heteronormative marital sex, giving birth and breast feeding) versus being a source of evil temptation via pornography. I find this narrow objective view of a woman's body to be offensive. Not to mention all the blame is placed on the woman's body as if it does not belong to a person with a soul and very little is placed on the person who chooses to objectify a woman's body. I do think the author has wisdom to offer in the book, but I would love for him to reconsider his language use and his views on women.
