I get it. The narrator, Air, has English/Scottish parents. I get it that she grew up in America. But the switching back and forth randomly between American and British accents was so distracting I almost returned the book. It would make sense that some words might be said one way and other words another but it's so random.... Just stop it.
The story itself was so ridiculous. How do you not tell your parents? Anyway, I don't want to. Give anything away. The story got more engaging about 2/3 of the way through so there's that. It's just so unbelievable. I think the author doesn't give the readers enough credit.
