Acerca de esta escucha
Philosophy is part of who we are. We wonder, we muse, and we puzzle our way through life. And there is little that is more exhilarating and challenging than to figure out who and what we are and where we are going.
My essays draw from domains of knowledge such as religion, philosophy, science, and psychology and are rooted in six decades of personal experience. Some of them reflect my deepest convictions while others are tentative and speculative.
The title of this book echoes Walter Lippmann’s 1929 A Preface to Morals. He makes that case for humanism as an answer to the disillusions and dislocations of the modern age. My book touches on some of these themes while I look through the lens of my experience at the big questions of life.
Philip Wik's A Preface to Philosophy is generally well-regarded as an introductory text to philosophy. It aims to provide a comprehensive and accessible overview of key philosophical ideas and thinkers, making complex concepts easier to understand for beginners. The book's strength lies in its clarity and ability to engage readers who are new to the subject, presenting philosophy in a way that feels approachable rather than overwhelming.
