Acerca de esta escucha

A paster’s wife asks Brianna to look for her beloved mother, Bernice, who went missing three years ago. At first Brianna refuses. She has a plateful of talents but has no desire to be a detective. When it’s pointed out to her that she’s been at loose ends for a time and not doing anything of note except training with Titus, a street combat expert, and dancing the night away in speakeasies, she relents.
The fact that Bernice disappeared when seeking information about something of high value also peaked Brianna’s interest. It’s 1931, the Depression is well underway, times are tough, and jobs are scarce, not that she has any desire for the usual employment available for women. She was once described as being a bit like a feral cat.
A chat with Bernice’s hairdresser steers her to a confrontation with a down and out drunk and a visit to a lawyer residing in a shantytown. She sees a self-concerned Bishop, a noticeably reticent private investigator, and gets an education in the intricacies of charting and navigation. A visit with Gretchen, her crusty tutor in the particulars of surviving underwater and charting, leads to an entertaining time in a subterranean home for rats.
