A tsunami advisory has been sent out for the West Coast, including the Bay Area, following a massive earthquake in Russia. The 8.7 quake hit around 4:25 Pacific time this afternoon. The National Tsunami Warning Center, based in Alaska, has issued a tsunami advisory for parts of the Alaska Aleutian Islands, and a watch for portions of the West Coast, including California, Oregon, and Washington. Dangerous currents are expected to begin at 12:40am tonight in San Francisco.
