Stealing from a mage was both the best and worst thing I had ever done.

After being caught, I was named a criminal and sent to a prison known as the Jade Bastion. Located at the Edge of the World, this prison carries a secret. Those inmates who have magical abilities are trained in the most powerful magic known to the empire: battle magic.

I enjoyed the start of the series for the most part and I am glad this was a boxset. I had trouble staying engaged so I needed to stop from time to time.
The story is pretty interesting and the character development is average for a harem story. The girls are pretty unique and manage to stick to their differences pretty well.
The clues for a deeper lore are tantalizing but I wish there was more focus on them. Which there might be more focus on their mysteries in later books.
I was honestly expecting a whole tournament battle for your freedom type deal but not even close. There is the training but otherwise it is a missions/quests style of story.
The narrators did a pretty decent performance that I would enjoy moving forward.

Had a surprising depth of lore by the end.

Dear Mr Dante King please don't make us wait long for the book four of this book and Between Heaven and Hell I would buy both books as soon as possible once you post them each story is very good and I'm loving the characters

With 9 books in this awesome series, I'm glad King has gone the omnibus route.
These first 3 books are great and when the book ended I wanted to start book 4 right away.
I love the characters and the action and that the main group in the story isn't just one guy and all women. Having more main characters that aren't involved in the harem is a good play.
Great writing and narration.
I'm giving this book 8.5 out of 5 stars.

The story was good.The action was okay, but it kept you entertained and wanting more. let's hurry up and bundle three more together

Normally I hate Mr Kings books but this series is pretty good. The mc in not a total dumbass that does not turn into a child when females are around. My only gripe is the over use of the word BLUSH. Every time the mc has a conversation alone with a females she blushes. So it happens way too much.

I liked the premise of the protagonist having to serve the empire, or be executed for his crimes. I thought it would be a great story for redemption and growth. That’s about all I liked, aside from the great voice acting. I felt like this series was written by a very hormonal teenage boy. I just didn’t enjoy the idea of a character that wants time be with every woman he can possibly be with and have them as a harem. And of course he has the biggest penis known to man. If this was a comedy, I might understand that aspect of the story. I also can’t get into a hero that has absolutely no struggles, as he gains his powers. And he does just about everything alone, even though he has a group with him.
This is just some of what I didn’t like, but That doesn’t mean you won’t like it. To each their own, I say.

Title says it all- OF COURSE the main char has a giant D, every girl has a prefect body, & bangs him in detail. OF COURSE all the girls just LOVE oral with no reciprocation, have no problem with him banging every other chick- but will, of course, be fully faithful themselves to ONLY him, and thinks the main char D is "The most beautiful thing they've seen"... yaaa said no woman EVER. Keep dreaming dude. Couple chap in you'll see- this isn't high literary fantasy classification, it's some lonely 40 y.o. virgin gamer living in mommy's basement's wet dream fantasy with a little magic and conflict thrown in. I'm no prude, but these scenes are frankly just frequent & explicit to the point of being obnoxious. If you can get past that, the rest of the ACTUAL story line is decent and the voice acting is superb.

Thought I bought high fantasy novel not some 40yo virgins wet dream recounting.

the voice acting is top notch, but the story and characters were mediocre at best imo. I'm not really impressed, but there are worse titles.
