Acerca de esta escucha

In the Society, everyone is controlled.

Leaving everything she knew and loved behind wasn’t easy for Drea, but now that she’s out of the Society, she’s determined to make a life for herself. One she chooses. With Jerrick at her side, Drea throws herself into learning not just about herself and the world that used to exist but the Society as well. And the more she discovers, the more determined she becomes to help overthrow the controlling regime and save the people still trapped in the Society.

Unfortunately for Drea, Jerrick has other plans, which include making sure she stays as far away from the Society as possible.

But when Drea receives word that someone she loves is in danger, she’s faced with what could be a life-altering decision. Does she stay in the safe bubble she’s created for herself in the rebel colony, or does she prove how strong she’s become and risk everything?

Book two in an exciting new dystopian series by award-winning author, Kate L. Mary. Perfect for fans of young adult dystopian novels like The Hunger Games and Divergent!

As with book 1, there are over-arching similarities to the Divergent series and the Handmaid's Tale, which is fine as I liked those tales. However, Kate does weave her own story into the mix and although it is somewhat disappointing to see how Jerrick is evolving now that he has escaped the utter control of Society, there is some semblance of reality. Drea has an interesting character and pushes herself to have the balls to go after what she wants and needs. Overall a good addition to the series.
The narration was a little slow for my liking and somewhat monotone for some of the character voices, however, with it sped up a little, it was easy to get into it.

Enjoyed it and happy to listen to Book 3

The narrator is way too dramatic with the conversations between a couple. Then the book itself is very wordy/cheesy about feelings.

The narrator did a good job, and I’d recommend listening. She fit Drea’s character well, and the recording was a good quality. A nice listen.

Another entertaining, dystopian type of read, and I liked getting Jerrick’s POV. Drea and Jerrick are learning a new way of life in the rebel community and with each other. Jerrick is becoming a bit too over protective of Drea, so that causes some contention between Drea and Him. Drea is just discovering what it’s like to have independence and be able to make her own choices. She did annoy me at times; especially her choices towards the end of this book, she doesn’t think things through clearly. I do appreciate the sweetness between Drea and Jerrick. The Society is also still causing problems; things seem to be getting worse, or rather, less hidden than they used to be. Drea and the Others are learning just how despicable The Society is. I’m interested in the next and final book; the ending for this one left me ticked off, so here’s hoping the next book is better.

Interesting Dystopian
