Acerca de esta escucha

In the 23rd Century, war is still hell....

Navy Corpsman Elliot Carlyle joined up to save lives and see the universe. Now he and Bravo Company's Black Wizards of the interstellar Fleet Marine Force are en route to Bloodworld - a hellish, volatile rock colonized by the fanatical Salvationists who desired an inhospitable world where they could suffer for humanity's sins. Their penance could prove fatal - for the Qesh, a strange alien race detected but still mysterious for six decades, have made violent first contact.

Suddenly countless lives depend upon Bravo Company - perhaps even the fate of homeworld Earth itself - as the Marines prepare to confront a vast force of powerful, inscrutable enemies. And one dedicated medic, singled out by an extraordinary act of valor, will find himself with an astounding opportunity to alter the universe forever....

Is there anything you would change about this book?

This book was written too descriptive, if you could belive that. The Author kept using big words on mindless matters that clouded the storyline. Example : Solar flare: A solar flare is a sudden brightening observed over the Sun's surface or the solar limb, which is interpreted as a large energy release of up to 6 × 1025 joules of energy (about a sixth of the total energy output of the Sun each second or 160,000,000,000 megatons of TNT equivalent, over 25,000 times more energy than released from the impact of Comet Shoemaker–Levy 9 with Jupiter). They are mainly followed by a colossal coronal mass ejection also known as a CME[1]. The flare ejects clouds of electrons, ions, and atoms through the corona of the sun into space. These clouds typically reach Earth a day or two after the event and so and so and so on...........Boring as can be....... Why not write more about the characters of the book than the rantings of a nerd topic go wild?

What was most disappointing about Ian Douglas’s story?

This is not a book,it read more like a research paper only a 2nd year intern would grade as he would just look at the 1st 2 and last 2 pages of the book to score!!

Would you listen to another book narrated by David Drummond?

I would say that this novel would be a great cure for those suffering in (Insomnia), or sleeplessness, is an individual's reported sleeping difficulties. Yes a perfect answer for those in need!

One to pass on

IT IS TYPICAL IAN DOUGLAS, YOU CAN DEFINITELY RECOGNIZE HIS WRITING STYLE.

THIS BOOK IS LIKE TECHNOLOGICAL AND BIOLOGICAL SOPHONT ENCYCLOPEDIA OF EVERY SCIENTIFIC CONCEPT AUTHOR USED IN EVERY OTHER BOOK OR BOOK SERIES.

IT HAS SO MANY INFORMATIONAL SIDE STEPS, THAT IT FEELS LIKE ENCYCLOPEDIA WITH ELEMENTS OF PLOT.

PS
IT IS WORTH LISTENING!!!

ENCYCLOPEDIA

do you like exposition filled with acronyms? this book is for you! exposition dumps followed by exposition explaining that the previous exposition is wrong. calling out books to excuse doing the thing that was being called out. constant reminders that the opposition is more advanced than us without showing any of that. oh and of course sophomoric explanations that nudity and sex are no longer taboo so it's ok to objectify the women in the book.

could have been half as long

I should have read the reviews! It gets two stars only because the story line would have made a great book. The problem is, it was one very long lecture. After nearly every statement or question there would be 10 to 20 minutes of lecture of how this atom affects that one or how this muscle works with this blood vessell, etc...
Pass on this one!!!

5 Dollars is two high

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Better story, better narrator

Would you ever listen to anything by Ian Douglas again?

never, this book was just awful.

Would you be willing to try another one of David Drummond’s performances?

No he was terrible. I couldn't stand listening to him.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Anger at how bad the story was, and frustration for spending my money on it.

Any additional comments?

The only part of this book I like is the cover.

So terrible

What disappointed you about Bloodstar?

When I downloaded this book, I expected battle-hardened bad asses fighting enemy alien species. However, I made it about 3 hours into the book, and the only violence involved a clumsy marine breaking his leg on a rock. The author seems more focused on brain chemistry than actual plot development. This book isn't worth your credit, I highly suggest trying a different series.

Boring

What would have made Bloodstar better?

Stopping the constant conversation about medical technology and medical jargon.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Nothing by Ian Douglas, He just phoned this book in. I cannot believe the publisher printed it.

How could the performance have been better?

Not to have done it.

What character would you cut from Bloodstar?

I would cut the corpsman. The lead.

Worst purchase of all my 224 books
