Acerca de esta escucha

The thrilling finale to the Revenger Trilogy tells a desperate tale of greed, piracy, shadow governments, and ancient secrets that could unravel all of civilization.

The Ness sisters ran away from home to become the most fearsome pirates in the 20,000 worlds of the Congregation. They've plundered treasures untold, taken command of their own ship, and made plenty of enemies. But now they're being hunted for crimes they didn't commit by a fleet whose crimes are worse than their own. To stay one step ahead of their pursuers and answer the questions that have plagued them, they'll have to employ every dirty, piratical trick in the book....

I really loved it. Tense and satisfying. I really enjoyed the way it wrapped up the Revenger trilogy. If you like the steampunky space pirate world that is the Revenger series, you will definitely miss out if you don't read this.
I feel like "ghosty gubbins" for sure after this...

I read the audiobook version and Clare Corbett hit a home run, such a great job. A more in depth review to come! (less)

Hope there is at least one more. Great read. Tons of creative new ideas, places and people.

great story

A naive, self-contradictory, anti-capitalist socialist agenda forces an otherwise good ending into mediocrity. It was so absurd that I found it funny. Just before they switch to a forced wealth transfer, the wealthy protagonists go on a buying spree before everyone else knows what is coming. Such hypocrisy is, however, an accurate description of modern socialized politics, so there is that.

Trashy socialist ending

I was hooked right until the final words, as engrossed and invested as I was from the first of the series.

I didn’t see reviews until I was done, but wow, people sure are fragile when their feelings about politics get hurt. If only I could give it another 5 stars for how funny the complaining reviews are.

Compelling End to a Great Trilogy

I love Alastair Reynolds as an author and I have read at least 12 of his novels. With the headline of this review, I'm stating simply that he sometimes has very elaborate socio-economic and political themes in his novels. Bone Silence is this novel for the Revenger series with our favorite characters experiencing what it's like to have real power. With real power comes real responsibility and the Ness sisters are thrown into a situation unlike any they had ever dreamed of. I don't want to write a critical review of the story because most of my reviews are spoiler-free. If you enjoyed The Prefect, which I do greatly and I love Elysium Fire, then pick the story up with the expectation that the Ness sisters aren't going to be jaunting around looking for the next big boerboel or planet that holds infinite treasure. It's still a great novel with new characters and a split storyline that holds your attention for hours and hours (provided that long commentary is ok for you).

"The Prefect" of Revenger (very political)

The plot had some inexplicable holes and odd twists and turns that weren’t terribly persuasive but the author gets it back together by the ending, which I liked.

Satisfying overall with some reservations

I really enjoyed this trilogy and thought the end really brought the first two books together!

Fun and thought provoking!

it finally all comes together for the crew. much of what we all wanted to get more information from - we got!

there's even more questions now, but choosing the t loop on many of these intellectual threads worked out great.

book was riveting and the best written of the three so far.

best yet in the series!

Hope this is going to be more than a triology. I really enjoy this universe.

best of the series

I have tried hard to enjoy this series, but the pivotal choices in the story arc amount to "I was curious about this thing, and now everyone is gonna run with my whim'. Good world-building with a strong eye towards sailing in the Nth century, but when the entire premise for the adventure is that one person said so, it loses any credibility, even for future sci-fi. Should have saved myself a few days of listening. (Narrator gaffes persist throughout this book too)

Motivation driving the story is arbitrary
