Acerca de esta escucha

The fate of the world is more fragile than ever as Pures battle Wretches and former allies become potential enemies.

Inside the Dome Patridge has taken his father's place as leader of the Pures. His intent had been to bring down the Dome from the inside with the help of the secret resistance force led by Partridge's former teacher Glassings. But from his new position of power, things don't seem quite as clear. Perhaps his father had been right. Perhaps if the world is to survive it needs the Dome - and Partridge - to rule it.

Outside the Dome, Pressia and Bradwell continue piecing together the clues left to them by their parents from the time before the detonations. Soon they will be able to help heal the Wretches, freeing them from their monstrous fusings and the Dome's oppression once and for all. But their success also depends on Partridge. Can they still trust their friend and ally to see their plan through? Or will a new war begin?

Just as it was reaching the climax it ended.
It was a good trilogy, but it really left me unfulfilled.

Not entirely fulfilled

The narration fit the story line perfectly. This last book was the best of the three. I enjoyed reading it and there was enough story for my imagination.

Burn at last

While I enjoyed learning more about the back story for many survivors, I would have liked the story to end with more finite details. What about the people in Ireland? Will Our Good Mother find Forsteed? Will Weed make good on his promise? I'm left with a few more questions than I'd prefer after a trilogy.

Not bad, but not great either

I love a good dystopian fantasy. The three books in this series held my interest without having porn sex authors think they have to fill the pages to sell their books.

enjoyed listening to a clean story

I loved the first book and second book in this trilogy, but walked away from this one sad and with unanswered questions. An epilog would have been nice, to answer some of them. The narrators once again did an excellent job of bringing all the characters to life, which made the end disappointing for me. If you read the first two books, you must finish it, but definitely not left with that "feel good feeling" you get when you finish a trilogy.

Sad

What did you love best about Burn?

The many different characters and their interaction.

What other book might you compare Burn to and why?

From what I read alone, maybe the Maze Runner. Because of the goals each had in common.

Which scene was your favorite?

Many different scenes. Too many to mention.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Pure - Change the world but not yourself

Any additional comments?

All three books were an enjoyable read. I like Sci-Fi and this was that and more. In many ways, it was quite different from what I am used to reading. It is an unusual story with an unusual ending.

Be happy with yourself the way you are.

Looking forward to the next book. Hope it come out really soon. I'm thinking of who should be cast in the movie. 5 stars.

Great story. I think it would make a good movie.

I love this book series so much, so much emotion. I don’t like certain characters but that’s what makes it good. I fell in love with one of the characters, Bradwell, he is the absolute best character. I have mixed emotions about the ending, but that’s okay. I wish there was more to read but sadly there isn’t. All I will say is that the ending made me cry for a half an hour straight. A big thanks to the author, for this beautiful masterpiece. This is a must read, I repeat this series is a must read.

P.S. Bradwell and Pressia forever.
Also Bradwell is the best boi of all time and Partridge can go die in a hole ☺️.

Extraordinary

The rest of the book? Pretty good. The end? What?! It’s like the author tried to cram another few hours worth of plot into 5 minutes. It’s so open ended that it answers basically no questions at all - except killing a main character.

.... okay but that ending though

I have been obsessed with this trilogy since I read the first book, Pure, nearly 10 years ago. Since then, I have patiently waited for the 2nd and 3rd books and bought both immediately upon their releases. I also waited for its popularity to blow up, as to me it compares to The Hunger Games and,The Forest of Hands and Teeth. I think the fact that it is classified as an adult fiction instead of YA may have been detrimental to it not catching on in that aspect, but it is better than both of those trilogies. Julianna Baggott has developed amazing characters, making the reader fall in LOVE with Helmud and El Capitan, as well as the warrior band of Mothers, who are hated at the beginning due to their brutality, and also begin to severely dislike the two main characters Partridge and Pressia, who are set up to be the heroes but fail due to their selfish motives and immaturity, though not their fault as the decisions that are forced upon both as they are put into positions no 16 year old should ever be put into. The audiobooks bring this story to life a hundred times more than the book ever could, as it is told in revolving POVs and amazing actors voice each different one. The audiobook especially brings Helmud to life, as a character that has been so traumatized from the detonations and further traumatized by El Capitans previous treatment of him, he is only able to echo what other characters say to him. In the first book, it seems he can only echo the last words of his brothers every sentence, but through the 2nd and 3rd book we see that he is actually communicating, and the interactions between him and El Capitan made me laugh out loud 5 or 6 times. It is an amazing epic story that especially captured my imagination as a future that America could one day become in light of current events (maybe in a few thousand years) and it is as disturbing as it is endearing. Baggott was able to complete every characters story arc and connected every loose seam that I had not even noticed needed connecting as I was reading. this trilogy is amazing. DON'T MISS OUT!! It is so great I actually re-listened to it again immediately after I heard it on audible the first time. My favorite books of all time besides Harry Potter!!
