Meanwhile, the Gulf Coast is under flooding alerts with days of heavy rains expected, and more than 70 million people in the eastern U.S. are under heat alerts through Thursday. In 2023, an off-duty Alaska Airlines pilot tried to turn off the engines of a plane after he was feeling the effects of "magic mushrooms." Joseph Emerson, who is set to be arraigned on federal charges next month, spoke to CBS News about the incident and mental health as there is now a bipartisan effort to address barriers facing pilots when it comes to mental health issues.
