Before the Fall, Obsidian Corporation had Agents, and Teledyne Industries had Specialists. Both were deadly.

In the Northeast Sector of North America, deep in Obsidian-controlled territory, Teledyne had Mr. Smith, and people fled, just on the rumor he was close by.

Now, 20 years after the fall, former Obsidian executives have formed a tenuous truce with the former assassin to save New Toronto. Smith would have happily lived out his life alone, but when Smith sees that something needs doing, he gets it done.

The Anarchists Legion are on New Toronto’s doorstep, as well as under it, and Mr. Smith must search from the top of the CN Tower, to the PATH system under the city, to the shores of Lake Ontario to find out who’s behind the murders, sabotage, and destruction. Used to being cold and working alone, Smith will be forced to forge bonds with new allies, but with enemies all around him, is there anyone he can trust?

Who will control New Toronto? Who will survive the Anarchists? Mr. Smith will have something to say about both of those questions. And when Mr. Smith talks, people listen...or at least they should.

as all the books in the series the narrator makes them much better. this story line was great and stayed on course with original story line of series. again mark biyett is one of if not the best there is.

I bought the book then returned it due to not continuing with Cade or the farmers. then decided to rebuy it and give it a fair shake. wasn't that bad. Boyett is an awesome narrator without question. definitely a fan of his of anything he voices now.

I did like Mr. Smith. He found the problems in the cities, killed a few people and then moved on.

No romance and the F-bomb was used 4 times.

As for the narration: Mark Boyett is perfect for this series.

As long as you ignore the trite “in the fallen world” and similar inserts, this whole series is ridiculously good. Like, really good. And I have never liked post-apocalyptic genre books before.

Also, lets all say it together now, “Mark Boyett is amazing... always.”

This book was an amazing struggle to the top and to be back in control. loved it!

Although the story was good, the MC is not one I could "get into" like some of the other tales MCs. It was the authors style in this storyline I think, possibly it's the Teledyne specialist type person I don't know for sure?
Overall good yarn but it's location and seperation and 2 decades after the fall time point made things unrealistic in an EOTW setting as well as being in a different country outside of the previous MCs and there interlinked stories.
Worth a listen but I'm more interested in linking back up with other MCs way more.
