I have read much of Lin's work, yet I find new aspects in listening to the audio versions narrated by Travis Baldree. The continued character development is interesting and expanded through Baldree's narration. I also continue to appreciate the main protagonists power development through the unique soulcrafting method Lin has developed. The Chasm of Lamentation event is exciting, and there is a surprising twist regarding the Senka character who previously could be seen as annoying. All in all, I highly recommend Lin's newest audiobook.

Excellent Continuation of Story

I've really enjoyed the stories in this series so far as the main story arc kept building. And now we get some super important revelations and key events in characters' lives plus a number of twists I certainly didn't see coming. This series keeps me wanting to know more and eager for the next book and what it may reveal.

Travis Baldree's narration is so good with easily identifiable voices and appropriately expressive reading of the text. He always brings a story to life in a way that adds so much to the experience. I'll be eager to listen to his interpretation of the next book, Bloodcreet!

I've tried to write up longer reviews but is there any point this many books in? Story is still strong, Travis is still the GOAT, everything keeps building on itself, etc etc etc.

The great thing about Weirkey Chronicles is how carefully all the pieces are laid. In this book a certain character is revealed to be not who you thought they were, and all their previous actions/dialogue can be reinterpreted in light of that. The House of the Lost, which was previously just a minor player, proves how important it is (and this will be super relevant later in the series). We get the first of the Five Rivers which now that I think about it might be connected to the Five Monuments. Everything is written extremely carefully and the series just gets more rewarding as it goes along.

I've read this book in kindle format and got just to check out Travis Baldtree's performance. Excellent book, wonderfully narrated.

So much of this book mundane preparation and arbitrary soulhome details that barely get mentioned again, and minimal actual story, character development, character interactions etc. Most of that changes in the second half for obvious reasons, but only to some extent. I've bought the 5th book and will listen now, but will likely be my last in the series if there isn't more meat on the bones of this story.

The weakest of the 4 so far.. but good enough

This book is a turning point in the series, really raising the stakes leading to many awesome character arcs.
The narration is also pretty great.

So to begin would recommend the book it is very good and well thought out especially the magic system. That being said a few things bother me with this series mainly the fact that no matter how much progress the main 3 make and should theoretically be strong the author always has them just barely scrapping by which doesn’t really make sense at some points. On top of that the author has given two outta the main 3 characters horrible personalities nada is so annoying when it’s on her perspective always doubting and being sarcastic then Theo is written to be a miserable old man and it is just not very good since he spent his whole life on earth to experience the 9 worlds again then he is just miserable the whole time. Then when fiyu attempts to deepen the connection between all 3 of them which would have been fine as a plot since they are gonna travel together so much boom blows up with both rejecting her for no reason granted after peeking ahead apparently it is gonna turn out to be her and nada as a lesbian couple but still bad section of the book
