Acerca de esta escucha

Fr. Dear makes a powerful argument for the support of vegetarianism through Christianity, showing that eating meat supports environmental degradation, poor health, global poverty, and animal abuse, and arguing that each of these is antithetical to Christian living.© PETA Foundation Cristianismo Ministerio y Evangelismo

Taken in a holistic sense - this book ultimately tries to instill a sense simply that vegitarianism is a path to betterment - for self and society.

Carnivoires and herbivores will both glean insights here. Simply this book is a positive statement that living lightly and with a conscious connection to all creatures is important. Ultimately illuminating this delicate symbiosis we call life.

Be kind.

Such a wonderful story that helps support those of us Christians who practice vegetarianism. It also provides nonjudgmental guidance, for anyone who is considering changing their diet to practice more compassion and lend more grace to the least of these.

Well done

This book has changed my life. I never want to eat meat again. I thank the author for having the courage to share the truth.

Dear delivers this most important message in a brief little series of notes. If we want to fully follow the Gospel message of non-violence, we need to open our eyes to this remaining example of modern man's atrocities.

A most important message

John, in his review, said:
"'Acts 10:11 He saw heaven opened and something like a large sheet being let down to earth by its four corners. 12 It contained all kinds of four-footed animals, as well as reptiles of the earth and birds of the air. 13 Then a voice told him, "Get up, Peter. Kill and eat.'"

Not to advocate for or against this audiobook, but whenever one studies Bible passages he or she must always read the COMPLETE CONTEXT. This passage is a parable about banishing prejudice from a Christian's heart--in this context, a Jewish Christian--and reach out to people different, sometimes very different, from themselves (e.g. Gentiles, or...gasp!...reformed Pharisees). It is absolutely not in any way, shape or form a discussion of clean or unclean meats, much less a green light to introduce vile and filthy things into the body, a temple of the Holy Spirit.

Acts 10:11-13 is NOT about eating meat

So well presented. How can anyone take offense to Fr John’s wisdom and sincerity? Even though the facts speak for themselves, connecting them with the purity of Jesus’s message, makes them powerful. Our gluttony has been an old habit-this presentation ripped the blinders off! There was a balance of being disturbed yet also being invited into stepping more fully with Jesus into non-violence.

Eye opening- A great way to ring in the New Year!

This is just sad. The whole concept of his idea for being a vegetarian is Gandhi, who has nothing to do with Christianity. So which is it is he trying to promote Christianity or Buddisaim. This is just a sad way to cover up his political motivations against. He calls for the redistribution of wealth. And that if we just all stop eating meat it will solve the world hunger which is utterly stupid and totally naive. The one versus that he quits is taken out of the full contexts.

PETA will go to any lengths to promote their radical views on animal rights. They have a web page where they try to claim that Jesus was a vegetarian, when the bible is clear that he as an observant jew not only ate lamb on passover, but also as YHWH he instituted the whole sacrificial system to the Jews. He also helped Peter catch fish and was described as eating fish on a few occasions. The New testament also mentions that it is OK to eat any kind of animal (the Jews had restrictions on shellfish and pork)

Acts 10:11 He saw heaven opened and something like a large sheet being let down to earth by its four corners. 12 It contained all kinds of four-footed animals, as well as reptiles of the earth and birds of the air. 13 Then a voice told him, "Get up, Peter. Kill and eat."

This book is just more PETA propoganda.

If you want to be a vegetarian, then fine. But This book tries to make it look like Christianity or Judaism support it as the 'correct' way, when both religions clearly support eating of meat.

It's really humorous when people try to rewrite things to suit their viewpoint. That is the case with this author as well. 1 Timothy 4 clearly states that vegetarianism is considered a false doctrine devised by devils! See also the reader comments on Judaism and Vegetarianism for a list of OT scriptures against vegetarianism.
