The investigation yields no shortage of suspects - the old enemy from his school days still bearing a grudge, the wife terrified he is going to leave her, the bookie who assists him in betting on horses. Christmas Diner & Death (#23 Mrs. Pomolo Investigates series) by Donna Muse is a fun cozy mystery story. Geneva Pomolo and her partner Iris Reeves investigate the death of Chester Claus at a holiday dinner. Lots of quirky characters and lots of suspects. Even though this is a series, this book was enjoyable as a stand-alone. Kathleen Strecker is a great narrator. She brought the characters to life.

Geneva takes pity on the new and irritating neighbour, inviting her to attend the Claus Christmas dinner as her guest. Unfortunately, dinner is never served...
This is book 23 of the Mrs.Polloi series - and the first that I have read. It's fun, with gossipy characters and a murder mystery to solve, a little bit Agatha Christie style, at least that's what Geneva thinks.
This cosy mystery is read by Kathleen Strecher, a hint of laughter playing somewhere in the depths of her warm and pleasant voice. Well paced, her narration also has good modulation and fresh voicing for each of the varied protagonists, her performance definitely helping to successfully steer the reader to the end.
.Short (only two and a bit hours), fun and totally unbelievable, Christmas Diner & Death is an easy book to enjoy and stands alone despite being part of a long running series

Senior sleuths bungle their way to solving a Christmas crime. Hilda seems certifiable but harmless. A strange mystery. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a good job bringing it to life. Entertaining story.

I'm not a huge fan of murder mysteries but I was gifted a copy of this book, so decided to give it a try. As I listened, I was pleasantly surprised at the quirky characters but what I really enjoyed was the narrator's performance! She really brought each character into focus and I felt like she was telling me a story instead of just reading a book.

I decided to read this book because I have listened to this narrator before and really enjoyed her voice. She completely disappears into the various characters she portrays, which allows me to become immersed in the story. The story itself is cute and cozy, as advertised. I highly recommend Kathleen Strecker as a narrator. I only wish she had more books on audible to choose from.
