Vaseem Khan came hard with this one. Both as an entry in the series and throughout this individual book Khan remorsely ratchets up the plot and character tension. Even better the whole powerful story is wrapped inside a time when history itself twisted like a snake. Don’t miss this book.

Love both the Malabar series and his other books. This one was too overwritten for me … I struggled with the repeat beats of the main character being down a well( this happened in another book) as well as her repeated and oft illogical risk taking . But, it’s a good story. I recommend it

I found the main characters are likable and interesting through all the series, however the detective side had his ups and downs (downs being somewhat unbelievable). This book however is definitely up, I enjoyed it very much. Introduction of a new twist in Persis relations with Archie gives it depth a

I was taken back by the protagonist’s one weak indiscretion and yet the whole cloth of the story is another success for this talented author. Also, the narration was superb.

You get the whole package with this latest Persis mystery: rich historical story with a top notch performance. I gave it 5 stars across the board and look forward to the next installment of the Malabar House series.

Very enjoyable book. Narrator was excellent for this story. Story line is engaging. I also enjoyed a little refresher on some history in India.
