Acerca de esta escucha

Fiercely independent Helen Winters was born completely blind, but she vowed never to let her disability keep her down. Disillusioned by the cruelty of people, Helen retreated from society to live by herself as a reclusive writer in the woods - where no one could ever hurt her again.

When a brilliant young doctor shows up on her doorstep, promising her that his new research can give her the ability to see for the first time, Helen stubbornly refuses. But Dr. Liam Larson will not take no for an answer. He makes it his personal mission to rescue Helen from her loneliness and bring joy into her world once more - the joy she has denied herself for so long.

When Helen's demons come racing back into her life, threatening to rip her apart and destroy the strength she has carefully rebuilt, Liam is the only one who might be able to save her. Can he reach the broken girl in time, helping her to heal and see the world in a different light? Or will Helen's grief send her spiraling out of control, lost to him forever?

Overall Good Read

Okay, so the premise really intrigued me. However, I wish that there had been a trigger warning for the violent act against the heroine that caused her retreat from the world. Dr. Liam seemed quite sincere in wanting to help her via his medical study. I had the next audiobook and jumped right into it next.

A good novella length intro

Would you try another book from Loretta Lost and/or Elise Arsenault?

Probably not from Loretta Lost but Elise did a good job. The story line while some what predictable had a few twists but overall was a little thin. It has an almost male misogynistic feel to it. While I will on rare occasions pan a book I never feel comfortable doing it. Unfortunately this fits in that category. I'm not sure if it was the characterizations of the air head? sister, Dr. Porno or Helen making choices that seemed very out of character but it all added up as disappointing

What do you think your next listen will be?

Actually " Forty thieves" as it should be something completely different.

What about Elise Arsenault’s performance did you like?

She did a wonderful job narrating, the writing just wasn't up to her talents.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment, it held such promise.

Any additional comments?

This felt like a first book, which holds the possibility for the writer to hone her craft. She is a capable writer, just missed for me on this title.

It just ended!
