Acerca de esta escucha

Climate change is the greatest single problem we face as a planet. This important introduction skilfully guides us through the complex mix of scientific, political, social and environmental issues to examine the manifold threats it poses and explore the possible futures for our world.

Focusing on the fact that the ‘point of no return’ may in fact have already been passed, Boyd and Tompkins highlight the urgent need to start actively adapting to our changing climate if we want to avoid complete catastrophe.

Reseñas editoriales

While there are still those who dismiss global warming as a myth, authors Emma Tompkins and Emily Boyd operate under the scientifically-bolstered assumption that climate change is an irrefutable fact, and though they posit the troubling idea that perhaps its effects may already be irreversible, they still remain optimistic that a collective change in behavior may be able to prevent widespread catastrophe in their well-researched, common-sense overview of this thorny issue.

As divisive and weighty as the topic can be, James Adam’s skilled, pitch-perfect delivery maintains an optimistic and engaging tone throughout, making for a captivating listen from beginning to end.

Reseñas de la Crítica

“A valuable guide to the underlying science, the possible impacts of change, and the political hazards now surrounding the debate.” (Sir Crispin Tickell, Director of the Policy Foresight Programme at the James Martin 21st Century School, University of Oxford, and Chairman Emeritus of the Climate Institute, Washington, DC)
“Tells it like it is. Highly recommended to concerned, and as yet unconcerned, citizens.” (Neil Adger, Professor in Environmental Sciences, School of Environmental Sciences, University of East Anglia)

What didn’t you like about James Adam’s performance?

Very boring. But difficult subject. I don't think he would convince anyone who was on the fence.

The authors do a good job explaining the greenhouse effect and how the changing climate will affect humans and the rest of the biosphere.

Very good beginner guide (as far as I can tell)
