If you're looking for your next read, how about an illustrious assassin with dreams of being a proper lady who can wield a stuffed swordfish as a weapon? Oh, and let's not forget a fae king who is equal parts vulnerable and a bit of a little shit.

Though the book is short, the story is engaging and leaves nothing to be desired.

No complaints about the narration; I particularly enjoyed Moridyr's growly baritone. 😏

I feel like the relationship was a bit rushed, but that could be because I don't really feel the passage of time. I think she's with him for a few months before she falls for him, but it feels like a couple of weeks. Anyway, I love do love their banter. I like how he's not afraid to be vulnerable with her. I like that she realizes that, though life isn't turning out how she expected, she can be happy as it is. I do wish there were more background story and I'm hoping the next book shows them leaving the castle.

I’m a huge fan of the Fae Isles series so I came to this one. I know there’s only one book out, but it’s a good start for the series, not a ton happened, but I have a feeling the rest of the series is gonna get even better.

I absolutely love the magic in this book! Her last series had very new and interesting forms of magic that are not typical lines the other books out there and I’m so happy this story has the same! I can’t wait for book 2!! I wish it had been a little longer, but if it’s going to be a trilogy or longer then that’s ok.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story and the narration was fantastic. I found the "Beast" aspect to be very original but also kinda creepy. I must admit though, without spoiling anything the ending felt unfinished. I undertstand this is the first of the series but it was listed as a stand alone and I feel there were still many unanswered/unexplained issues when it ended.

I’m a true sucker for a beauty and the beast retelling. I enjoyed the burn and the banter. I wished there was a little more to the story of the faireland and the king. Hoping it will be in the second book.
