Law professor Natalie Greco has an ordered life. She feels a passion for teaching, especially her arcane History of Justice seminar, even though the course is pathetically undersubscribed in the high-powered law school. She has an attentive boyfriend and a protective family, although her testosterone-fueled big brothers and very successful parents tend to overlook the quiet Nat.

Then, one terrible day, everything changes. Nat accompanies her colleague Angus to a prison in Chester County, where he's a guest lecturer. They are hardly inside before the speaker system announces a "disturbance" and the warden orders a lockdown. They're smack in the middle of a riot. In front of a horrified Nat, a prison guard is fatally injured. Nat rushes to help him, only to hear his last words: "Tell my wife. It's under the floor. The money."

At that moment, reinforcements arrive, the riot is quelled, and Nat and Angus are escorted out of the building by U.S. marshals. Remembering the dying guard's words, Nat feels she must find his widow. But this is no simple quest, and along the way, Nat is framed for murder and the retiring scholar finds herself in a desperate fight to save her own life.

Natalie Greco, a law professor, is teaching a class at a local prison when a riot breaks out. Trying to rescue a dying guard, she's witness to his last words: "Tell my wife it's under the floor." Suddenly she's suspected of murder, chased by cops and killers, not to mention a colleague with romance in mind. Barbara Rosenblat is a perfect match for Scottoline's dramatic story. Scottoline writes with breakneck speed, and Rosenblat reads breathlessly. Scottoline injects humor, and Rosenblat inserts wry tones to relieve the intensity. Scottoline's characters are fully dimensional; Rosenblat breathes life into them. The author's cast is large; Rosenblat invents a huge range of voices to enliven the exciting story.

Just the right mix of characterization and action. Excellent reading makes it a joy to listen too. Hated to turn it off when I had to leave it for awhile.

this was interesting,but moves slow. only 2 book of Lisa's that I have read. I am going to try a 3rd one so we will see how it goes.

Daddy's Girl is a fun read and just when you think the mystery is solved you get another treat. Performance is, as usual, excellent. Book is not as good as the regular series with Bernie and gang but the Nat Grego is the typical gutsy heroine and most LS fans should enjoy this book.

Probably one of the most enjoyable reads I've had this year. A little humor -A little mystery - A fresh story line - A little education...

A real "page turner" and hard to turn off. Kudos to Barbara Rosenblat - she did an awesome job narrating.

A Thriller Through and Through

Did not like the intermittent music bits. They were very annoying and had nothing to do with the story.

The plot was simple, story moves at an okay pace. The narator does a great job with the voices, but the story is not engaging enough to hold your interest tightly.

Not bad for a who dunnit

I normally enjoy both the author and the narrator but this one was not a winner for me. Maybe the writing style is just dated and doesn't translate to current times. The main character was annoyingly cutesy and at times very whiny for someone who was supposed to be a strong lawyer. Not sure if that was how it was meant to be or if that's the narrator's take. The plot was good, but sometimes the dialogue was too overdone. I don't need a run down of store names as she drives down the street or a play by play of her turning a corner or walking up stairs and what color her shoes and socks are. This is not a direct example, but you get the gist. It doesn't add to the story or the character. It's just filler.

I really enjoyed Daddy's girl. It wasn't too descriptive but enough to paint a good picture of the people, place and plot. The narrator did a good job of changing voices without getting on your nerves. The pace kept you intrigued to where you didn't want to stop at any one point to get your work done. And even though the heroine was a petite law professor, you could believe that she had the ability to be the heroine and the limb she crawled out on was reasonable.

I really was suprised by the ending and that is rare.
