Abused but not beaten, I will break the curse.
With the reason behind her mother’s death revealed, it’s a race for Eloise to exact her revenge and prevent her stepsisters from marrying the prince. However, amidst the glittering jewels and colorful ball gowns, the royal court holds secrets of its own that will devastate Eloise and strike a final blow to her plans. Betrayed by the one person she thought she could trust, Eloise questions how far she’s willing to go for revenge.
After all, in the game of kingdoms, everyone is a pawn.

I read this fully knowing that the author likes to add more graphic mature elements to her stories, but this last book seemed like it had a lot of crude sexually graphic details that were were extremely unnecessary to the plot and just for cheap shock values.
This book also dealt a lot with the FL not only being mentally abused but physically abused and the constant threat of rape. Which while I realize is an unpleasant reality of life, once again it felt like it was used carelessly in the plot for shock value and lazy writing purposes.
As for the female lead she entered the TSTL nonsensical female lead territory more than I could stand. For someone so eager to break free of her bad situation the FL is not exactly what you could call proactive. Instead a lot of times she would help out and even give tips and heads up to her evil step family on how to do better with their crimes…which left me scratching my head literally saying out loud BUT WHY?!?!? What’s wrong with her?!??
Something that I noticed about this author is that while her ideas for retelling fairytales are unique and extremely interesting concepts she loves to make the female lead a martyr…to the point to where it can be extremely frustrating at points and just makes the female lead seem more stupid than noble.
I’m guessing that there might be another book after this one, but if not there’s a lot of points in the plot that were just left unfinished after 3 books.
I continue to read and listen to this author because I really do appreciate how she thinks outside the box. She tries to tell a new fresh take on an old classic. That being said I hope for her next books there’s less sexual crudeness for the sake of shock value and sexually cried sake, and better thought out ways to advance the plot. Also please dear god please no more self righteous martyrs. How about a courageous female who even if she doesn’t know her own worth at least has more drive and a backbone. With the uniqueness of the plots that would be an amazing story to read.
Not my favorite.
