A rumored fortune, a false impression, and a truth that changes everything.
What if Mr. Darcy's initial interest in Elizabeth Bennet was based on a misunderstanding?
When Fitzwilliam Darcy overhears gossip about a "Miss Elizabeth" who has inherited a fortune of thirty thousand pounds, he assumes the wealthy heiress is none other than Elizabeth Bennet. Suddenly, the lively and intelligent second daughter of Longbourn seems a much more suitable match for the master of Pemberley.
In this romantic reimagining of Austen's masterpiece, both Elizabeth and Darcy must navigate the consequences of false impressions, examining what truly matters in a life partner. Will wounded pride prevent them from finding happiness, or can love overcome even the most awkward of misunderstandings?
A captivating variation on Jane Austen's beloved classic, Pride and Prejudice, with an intriguing twist.

Story did not touch on every aspect of original storyline, and did not include every character—only a passing mention of most players.
Author always has a reflective ending about cumulative “lessons learned.”
This was not overdone; and the summation, though a bit different than one might expect, is insightful, respectful, and rich with goodness.
Unexpected character development that was charming and loveable.
Not what I had anticipated; very fun ideas.
Well-written and well-expressed. Writing feels appropriately Austen-esque (my geeky heart loved certain word usage that we just wouldn’t use today)
Good virtual voice with only a few mispronunciations or inflections that felt odd. Overall, and despite being virtual voice, it was pleasant and easy to listen to. I preferred the virtual voice read to be at 0.95 speed.
Overall, I truly loved this short story! Well done Ms. Belton!
Excellent Novella
