Acerca de esta escucha

From bestselling LitRPG author Seth Ring—creator of the Titan and Battle Mage Farmer series—comes Dark Dawn, the second book in an epic new series of alien contact, fast-paced military action, and thrilling adventure.

Mark Fields has achieved his dreams—once a dishwasher, he’s now one of the empowered, with superhuman abilities that just keep building. He’s got friends, a place in the Engineering Corps, and a new mission.

Joining the Black Mountain Battalion, Mark is part of the team heading into the wilderness to recover a lost mine. But the battalion is massively understaffed, the Exlian are voracious and myriad, corruption awaits back in New Emery, and the aliens aren’t even the only enemy out there …

Mark must level up fast if he wants to survive, but greater power is always a double-edged sword.

Hated that it left me on a cliffhanger- but overall it’s an enjoyable listen. Over all was a pretty good book. Waiting for the next one.

Loved the storytelling-

So far this is a great story arc. It ends in a dark place but I’m sure it will make book three a great one.

Good

As usual with Seth Ring, excellent story building and further plot and character development. Just really love everything this man writes!

Great character development, interesting story building

I usually don't mind cliffhangers, but this one was not just that; it also ended very abruptly in the in the middle of a story line. At least some level of a wrap should be accomplished, instead it finish an ongoing significant arc just to start a new one, that only just got going before the book abruptly ended with not even a hint of where it's going. I'll probably read the next in the series since the first book didn't end the same way, but I'm going to be really annoyed waiting who knows how long before the next is released.

Bad ending

oh my gosh the book was so good, I nearly cried at the end when I realized the third book wasn't out yet, and I need closure, so now I'm re listening to the first book again with my husband. even though I literally finished it yesterday. just cuz I need someone to talk to about my emotional trauma. 10/10 you did it again.

Seth how can you do this to me.

Dark Dawn caught me off guard in the best possible way. I didn’t expect the story to head in the direction it did, but the journey was compelling, immersive, and ultimately very satisfying. The pacing struck a great balance—starting at a moderate speed to build context and gradually picking up momentum as the plot unfolded. I love when a story takes the time to lay groundwork early on, then uses that foundation to drive the action in meaningful and exciting ways.

One of the standout aspects for me was the character development, especially of the main character, Mark. The story is told so effectively through his perspective that it feels like you’re experiencing the journey right alongside him. Without giving any spoilers, I’ll just say that watching his powers evolve was a real highlight of the book.

As a sequel to Advent, Dark Dawn is a strong continuation that expands the world in fresh and unexpected ways. The setting may be different, but it complements the first book beautifully and deepens the overarching narrative. I’d highly recommend this to fans of science fiction, litRPG, and anyone who enjoys Seth Ring’s work. I’m already looking forward to the next installment.

Immersive and captivating

This book packs a lot of exciting encounters that include unknown intrigue, bitter betrayal, MC progression revelations, companion deaths and near death situations.

I docked it one star due to the ambiguous cliff-hanger ending where the listener still is left with an unclear understanding of who and why others are targeting him. Still, I enjoyed the book and look forward to the next book in the series.

Pavi Proczko's performance was very good.

Starts slow but picks-up nicely

Not really a cliffhanger ending, but it still should have ended a bit earlier. When the next book picks up, I’ll be all WTF? What’s going on?

Should have ended about 15 minutes earlier

Book one showed that Mark could be dumb at times, but I would say 90% of his choices were well informed. This book has way to many choices that don't make any sense other then furthering some plot. Mark randomly becomes really stupid, and other times is really smart...

Spoilers (At the end Mark knows someone is trying to kill him and that someone is in a high position of power. You would assume he wishes to return to town to see any of his friends or even the girl he professes to like and almost dies for a few times in book one. Yet this book claims he doesn't care about Sky at all and now likes Phoenix. If that is true why would he even bother to go back to town. The choices he makes are not backed in any form of logic, yet some how in book one he leverages his talents to make millions of credits and keeps a tight budget. We are just meant to assume that he is dumb some times but when and where those choices happen don't make any sense. He knows he killed his direct officer and yet doesn't think about it at all. No one in the camp tells him that's a crime. WAY to many logic issues in the conclusion to this book.)

I assume that the author has a direction in mind since the next book is already announced. That has the ability to make or break this series as far as I am concerned. It was a good read but hopefully Mark grows up a bit in jail haha.

Worth reading but a bit frustrating.
