Acerca de esta escucha

Countess, Duchess, twice a Queen, ruler of vast lands, crusader, mother and politician, this is the story of the young Eleanor of Aquitaine.

Aquitaine, 1137
The young Eleanor of Aquitaine has inherited the lands of her father, at once becoming most powerful and most vulnerable. Promised without her knowledge to the heir to the King of France, Eleanor is about to enter a court unknown, and a world most violent. Through trials of marriage, politics and crusade to the Holy Lands, Eleanor will travel, rising above the limitations set upon her, to forge a path to a future where dreams of true power are more than mere illusion.

Daughter of the Sun, Story of the Young Eleanor of Aquitaine is part of the Heirs of Anarchy series by G. Lawrence.
Although part of Heirs of Anarchy, this book can be listened to as a stand alone novel.

The undertold story of Eleanor of Aquitaine is beautifully crafted in this comprehensive retelling of her early years. Ms Archer-Woodcock’s thoughtful, sensitive reading of the text sweeps the listener away completely with its understated dignity and mellifluous tone. Truly a delight to listen to.

A beautifully delivered insight into one of history’s most fascinating women.

This spectacularly written book serves to revive not only the tale of one of the most extraordinary women in medieval history, but also as a reminder of a fact of which we often seem to let slip from even our modern intellectuality and understanding. And that is simply the truth that even those born to great fortunes, or blessed with fine features or charms, might find themselves facing hardships that seem even beyond their endurance. But, as the saying goes, "What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger", we keep on going no matter what may come. Just as the queen, duchess and great heiress within this wonderful novel. Eleanor didn't let her formidable self down throughout the many years of unhappiness beside the man whom she once believed would love and cherish her for all time. The confident and clever queen strived and won over many who sought to shatter her image and spirit, but Eleanor remained that much stronger than their envious and wicked hearts. And finally was fated to meet a man as strong as she, in his will and determination. One who would indeed treasure her, even though their bliss wasn't meant to last for the rest of their marriage. And that is what we'll learn of, within the next book in this amazing series. Of which I have every intention to acquire, both here and as a printed version to add to my ever-growing library of awesome historical novels.

The start of Eleanor's unenviable journey, alongside her first weakling of a husband. Splendid writing and performance
