The circus is in town and Sir Edward has decided to run away and join them. To make matters worse, the murders start as soon as the Gustav Brothers' Circus pulls into town. There are plenty of suspects with motive, but with a circus full of freaks, finding the killer might not be so easy. With a runaway monkey and killer freaks running amok, things couldn't get much worse, or so she thinks, but that's just the beginning of the chaos. This book is about some of the troubles that a witch/reaper has in her life. Sometimes things go wrong but of course they can always get worse. One only has to take a deep breath, not feel self pity and deal with it. That's pretty much what our adorable with does. It's a very nice read. Very enjoyable. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys a light, somehow mysterious and fumar story.

An interesting genre

I haven't read the first two books and it's was clear that this meant that I was missing things, but not enough to prevent me enjoying the book. I suspect this book contains spoilers for book 1 and 2 though which will make listening to those interesting/weird.

I thought that the story was interesting and creative, I haven't seen grim reapers treated like this before.

I liked the characters as well, but it was clear that I was missing information that I'm assuming was covered in the first two books.

The narration includes good character voices and the delivery is smooth and natural sounding.

This is book 3 of a series and where I started. It seems to of picked up right from where book two left off. ( or so I believe)
I was a little lost, it really didn't give a back to story to anyone, or how they came to be.
With that said, I found the book to be ok. it wasn't awful, nor was it the best thing I ever read. But it did keep me entertained, But to be honest, I wasn't a fan of the monkey.

The narrator did a good job with the voices. and I would listen to a book she reads again.

This was the first book i have read by this author. I started with book three because i received it free for an honest review of this book. This book was great. I love the story and the characters. I really did not have a problem keeping up with the story even though it was book 3. I just love the talking monkey. I look forward to going back and listening to the first two books. If you love fun crazy characters then this series is for you.

Monkeys and murder

This is a cute cozy mystery, 3rd in the series and having not listened to the others I was able to follow the story but would have been more enjoyable if I had some backstory first. The narrator was pleasant, not the best I've heard but certainly not bad. I would be interested in listening to the others in the series. The main character Jazz is a witch reaper thi g and helps guide the deceased to hell. There are talking monkeys and warewolves a circus and of course a murder. Decent little story. I received this free review copy at my request in exchange for and unbiased review.

Loved the narration for this book. Just starting to listen to audio books and this book had me hooked. The story was fun. The characters were well fleshed out and that made the story even more interesting. Highly recommend this book to any mystery lover.

This is a great book; this is the third book in the Undertaker Mystery series written by Kendra Ashe and narrated by Julie Kelly. This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. The story flowed very well and was very enjoyable. This book will keep you reading long into the night and you will not want to put this book down until you finish. This was such a great read and full of surprises. The narrator did a wonderful job with this book. She did a great job with the different voices of each character in this book. It was very easy to listen to and I didn’t want to stop listening until the end. If you are looking for a great book with well-developed characters then you need to listen to this book. I am looking forward to listening to the next book by this author and narrator. There is a website, Audiobook Boom!, that offers audiobook listeners the opportunity to listen to a free audiobook if the readers are willing to do a review of the audiobook. Here I have found some delightful books whose series I have added onto my library by myself by purchasing books from Audible. I always look up a potential book on Audible and Amazon to get a sense of whether a book might appeal to me. This time I discovered that Dead Freaks Tell No Tales by Kendra Ashe is not the cozy mystery of its label or most reviews. Instead this is sort of a cozy supernatural book.

This book is the third book in the Undertaker Mysteries series featuring Jazz Sweeney, which made the book so confusing to follow because it does not explain any of the back story, leaving the present story too hard for me to keep track of. This book is full of the supernatural, with witches and many forms of creatures, such as werewolves, shape shifters, and familiars, which includes a monkey that is the familiar of Jazz's grandfather and thus talks, in this case in a formal speech pattern. Besides leading haunting tours, Jazz is a reaper, assigned to help people get to the light or dark, whichever they deserve, when they die, but it appears she has been so for only a short time and doesn't fully know the ropes yet.

Then one day the Gustav Brothers' Circus comes to town, and Sir Edward, the monkey, demands that Jazz take him because he wants to see all the animals. With her recently-discovered abilities to understand animal speech, Jazz finds the circus a scary place, especially when Sir Edward disappears to find more non-human primates. The next day, then, Jazz gets awakened with a call to visit a homicide scene, as she does some kind of consulting for the police, though I failed to understand what her role is. Someone has lured the ringmaster and owner of the circus to the area where the big cats are kept, and then the assailant released the cats from their cages to maul the man, who is not popular among the people in the circus. Thus, the range is suspects is broad.

I found this book to be both strange and confusing. I suspect that even someone who knows what a familiar is or why someone might be selling wolf pheromones on the black market would do best to start with book one in the series. The characters, especially the monkey Sir Edward, are drawn in a very lively way, so they add a lot of fun and drama to the book.

Julie Kelly performs the audio edition of this book and does a lot to make it fun and enjoyable. I suspect that the audiobook is more effective than the physical reading copy.

I personally did not enjoy Dead Freaks Tell No Tales, but that is because it was marketed as a typical cozy mystery and not a supernatural one. However, I do think that most readers of fantasy will thoroughly enjoy this book. The writing comes across cleverly and delightfully. So it is hard for me to give a rating to this book. Personally, I'd give the book two stars, but I think it would rate four or five stars among readers of fantasy mysteries, especially if you read the first two books first.
