Acerca de esta escucha

Gretta Sullivan is a PI with zero clients, zero money, and one rule—no divine entanglements.

That rule shatters when a desperate grandmother hires her to find a missing child—the future vessel for a mad god’s grand entrance to Earth. Now, zealots, the FBI, and at least one vengeful goddess are on her tail.

Worse, she’s stuck with an insufferable trickster god who keeps dying at inconvenient times. Rowan Carter is chaos incarnate, a walking bad decision with a smirk—but the worst part? He might be the only one who can help her stop the apocalypse.

A detective, a trickster, and a kid caught in the crossfire. If Gretta can’t figure out who to trust, she won’t just lose the case—she’ll lose everything.

For fans of The Dresden Files, Iron Druid Chronicles, and Ben Aaronovitch, Dead God & Damned Detective delivers action, adventure, and an unholy amount of sarcasm.

This is a fun story that blends magical gods and modern day Arizona. I enjoyed the conversational storytelling and consistent forward action. The settings were well described and the characters were an interesting mix. There were some twist and turns that made me want to keep reading to find out what happened.

As for performance, the AI Voice made it easy for the author to get this into an audiobook. The AI was inconsistent on how it pronounced a few names, which was distracting. Overall the AI voice was better than I expected, but many points of inflection or sarcasm are lost or muddled.

Fun story with consistent magical action
