Acerca de esta escucha

When the body of the glamorous film star Margot Browne washes ashore, Max's former colleague, Patrice Logan, requests his help. It's a perfect closed-circle murder: Margot must have been killed by one of the actors, stylists, scriptwriters, or second-tier royalty aboard the yacht. Patrice suspects the yacht's owner, a playboy film director she's been keeping tabs on for smuggling, but Max isn't so sure. During his investigation, Max uncovers secrets about the star's life that make him wonder if Margot was killed to help keep her lurid past in the past. As Max continues his investigation, though, he uncovers a host of motives, and it seems that Margot wasn't the only person onboard with a secret to keep.

I rather liked this book. definitely kept my attention and the story was great.

great

Too much talking and very little action. The reader struggled with the American accents. It made no sense that MI5 was investigating the murder nor that Max had to be the one to investigate. Hopefully the next one will be better.

Weakest book of the series

Interesting plot, interesting characters, setting was different and added a lot to the presentation.

Really enjoyed this book

I love Malliet’s Max Tudor series. I’ve listened to most of them twice. Devil’s Breath has loads of the British sense of humor that is a mainstay of the Tudor books. As delicious as the laughs are Tudor & Carter. Another delightful read by Malliet.

One of my Malliet - Max Tudor favorites.

Pathetic ! I had enjoyed previous Max Tudor novels by this author. This one, though, was incredibly boring. Eventually, I did the audio equivalent of speed reading just t get it over and done with.

Very disappointing

I was disappointed with this installment. So far Ive enjoyed the Max Tudor mysteries but this one seemed to have no real connection to Nether Monkslip or the characters in the previous novels. Did not enjoy the mystery or subject.. Hollywood actors..very boring. Maybe this would have been better as a stand alone novel. Just really disappointed. Also, the narrator cant seem to do American or women's voices. Please consider another narrator. Did not work for me.

Disconnected and disappointed

Any additional comments?

I am a big fan of this series and I was very much looking forward to the new installment. The last installment wasn't my favorite and the author seems to be moving away from the village and its people more and more. I recently listened to Wicked Autumn (book 1) again, so the contrast is striking. I can't even believe that this is the same author.

This book was a rambling mess devoid of all charm that existed in the previous books. None of the characters from the village make an appearance. We get to hear Awena speak only a couple of times for maybe a minute and it doesn't even resemble the character. Max Tudor spends most of the book in inner monologue mode. Going on and on about everything and all of it adds up to nothing. This might be the last Tudor book for me. I will wait and read reviews before I waste a credit.
