Acerca de esta escucha

Richard Fountain, a promising young Cambridge scholar, went to the island of Crete to study ancient rites and pagan rituals before, suddenly and inexplicably, breaking off all contact with the outside world. Disturbing rumors have filtered their way back to England, whispering of blasphemous rituals and obscene orgies, hints of terrible crimes and wanton murder.

Three of Richard’s friends travel to Greece to find him and bring him back. Following a grim progression of ominous clues, they will arrive at last at an abandoned fortress high in the wild and desolate White Mountains, where they will discover Richard’s terrible and shocking fate!

Chosen by Karl Edward Wagner as one of the best supernatural horror novels of all time, Simon Raven’s Doctors Wear Scarlet (1960) is a neglected classic of English horror fiction.

This was confounding,to say the least.Antony comes home to find a man in his house. He wants to know all about a man he knows. We go from childhood chums to having to rescue this man from what he has gotten himself into.It seems an ancient evil is involved. Can it be true? Hannibal Hills is an excellent narrator.I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.'

Very well done psychological thriller/horror tale with a twist of Greek vampirism. The narrator gives us a delightful set of buttery, balmy Voices that give excellent feel and tone to the story. If you are looking for a delightful period piece in British Academia, this is a gem. Thus as you might expect, this is an intellectually disturbing rather than gore-spattered contribution to the genre.

An excellent period piece

If Evelyn Waugh wrote a vampire novel, it might have looked a little like this. There’s no shortage of barbed wit to go along with the bloodletting and the academic setting is cynically portrayed. Unusually frank and non-judgemental discussion of homosexuality for a novel of this vintage as well.

The narrator does a great job when actually narrating, but his character voices tend to be oafish, which gets a little irritating.

Vampirism at Cambridge

Vampire story. The story starts off with a poof then becomes pompous and annoying and ends a little meh. The character of Piers get a slap across the face when he really deserves severe punch in the mouth. I have absolutely no problem with gays, seriously but these guys proclaim that they are in no way gay and then went on to totally correct that claim. I mean really if the character is gay Let him or her be gay.
