“This doesn’t have to be the end for us.”
Except it was.
What did we know about happily ever after at the age of 18?
Mason Braxter was a football legend—destined for glory far bigger than the confines of our small town. Meanwhile, I had dreams of my own—a simpler life that included staying put and growing roots. And all those plans of mine were going splendidly. Until one drunken mishap a month before college graduation left me staring at two pink lines. Then I was sharing custody with the most unlikely baby daddy.
We’ve figured out a system. Kind of. I’m rocking this single-mom gig. Mostly. If only I could get a boost in the romance department.
As if summoned by my dry spell, Mason Braxter makes a sudden reappearance in Meadow Creek. Six years have gone by, yet I can still remember every stupidly sculpted muscle on his body. How easy it would be to fall back into old habits.
But I’m not that foolish girl anymore. That doesn’t deter my all-star ex from trying to prove we can do it right this time.
For all his efforts, I might let him scratch my itch once. Maybe twice. Definitely not thrice.

This book was low on the angst and told the story of Presley and Mason. Archie's character was absolutely adorable. Chad provided a few well-timed laughs. I love Harloe Rae's conversational writing, and this was my first time experiencing it in audio. I enjoyed it!

Vanessa Edwin and Joe Arden were the perfect choice for Mason, Presley and the adorable Archer! It's always a pleasure listening when I hear either of them.

This book was very low on the angst scale, which made me realize that I apparently like a little more angst in my stories (just not too much). Mason and Presley mutually agreed to break-up and part ways when high school was over. Mason was going miles away for college and football but Presley was perfectly content staying at home in Meadow Creek. They both still loved each other (as much as you can love someone at only 18). They just knew they would be in very different places for a while and she didn't want to hold him back.
Presley also didn't want to change her dreams just to follow him and I loved that about her. Too many times we see the woman completely put her dreams and goals on hold just for the guy and she refused to do that. Presley went to college but then she ended up having a drunken night with one of her guy friends and she got pregnant. Her and the guy were never in a relationship as he is gay but they co-parented wonderfully.
When Mason runs into Presley at a local bar, he realizes his life is a shell of what he always dreamed of because she wasn't there to share it with him. He immediately knows that where she is, is where he needs to be. Mason finally takes his life and future into his own hands instead of the hands of his agent. I didn't really understand the terms of his professional contract the way it was explained to Presley but that's just me. I did love how Mason was with Archie. These two immediately bonded together and I loved it.
One thing that frustrated me was when these two were getting ready to "spill their secrets". It was written to where it dragged on and on, which just wasn't pleasant. Just explain it already. It felt like it was just "filler words" to make the story longer. I also didn't really get the "no boundaries" relationship between Presley and Archie's father. I understood that he was gay and there was a romantic relationship there but to have him just be able to walk into your home anytime he wanted just didn't sit well with me.
Overall this book was very low drama and angst. No OW/OM drama either. Just two people who used to date meeting back up and picking up where they left off.
