Carl Hassen does not write great novels; he writes excellent funny thrillers. George Wilson is the perfect narrator to act out a Hassen novel.

Double Whammy is about the huge business of big mouth bass fishing tournaments. There is a lot of creative cheating going on, but the cheaters do not always win. It is a good break from the serious thrillers I usually read.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of George Wilson?

When you can hear the narrator swallowing and taking a breathe then someone isn't doing their job. The smacking of the narrator lips and swallowing was so distracting i almost stopped listening. George Wilson did a good job otherwise.

The story and characters are entertaining. The narrator was good.
My only issue is the end of the book. It's abrupt in my opinion.

Love the characters and the story line, just as I do with all of Carl's books. George Wilson is the only narrator for these stories. He brings "Skink" to life every time.

Absolutely loved the book. The humor mixed with mystery is just my style. The narraters we wonderful. I would listen to them and the author again. Thank you for offering DOUBLE WHAMMY

Ok, it’s not Huck Finn. But Hiaasen translates perfectly into audio. Just plain fun. Not sure how I would rate this against his other books. Spent too much time laughing.

This is my first Hiaasen, and I really liked it. My kids tell me this one follows a pretty standard "pattern" for a lot of his books, so I'll be reading more - I like the "pattern"!

SKINK

Overall story was good and made me chuckle a few times. However the reader audibly swallowed often which was distracting and annoying. He needs to learn to move the microphone away when he does this. Only reader I've ever heard that does this.

Pro ecology and definitely anti-development. Skink is a character over the top and the characters he comes in contact with are well developed. Have listened to almost all of the series. Enjoy!!
