I have enjoyed several series by Duncan M. Hamilton now. I haven't finished this series, only the 1st book, yet so far it is my second favorite series. Like other reviewers, I wish a bit more of the dragons perspective was shared.

As the title suggests, Hamilton and Vance paired for another great YA novel. The world building continues and the lore is expanded upon. I thoroughly enjoyed this book with the exception of choppy editing in several places.

Choppy editing: skipped words and sentences spliced together with no pause.

I craved a little bit more out of the carpet but I’m really picky. So overall, I would recommend them and enjoyed them a lot! I think more aspects of the dragons and their thoughts and actions would have made things more interesting.

Good series

This story follows some well trodden paths with few deviations. But it is well done and the story is engaging. If you are hungry for fantasy, this will fulfill the craving for a bit. Simon Vance is a talented narrator. He is never over the top and keeps the story at a nice pace. This story is for sure worth the credit.

I love Duncan M. Hamilton's world building. His Middlesea books are fantastic! This one is no exception. Simon Vance is so good as a narrator, that is also not a surprise. You can't go wrong with this book.

Write from the POV of the dragon or the enemy (see Rodorf in the Wolfric series)... this is the only way to write. Too much SF is written from good guy POV see just about anything read by RC Bray and that’s garbage even if the character is flawed. 5/5 to everything Duncan Hamilton

Some reviews said this was a slow read and terribly written. I didn’t find that at all. I liked the development pace and enjoyed seeing things from the dragon’s perspective. It was a fun listen.
