"We can examine the yin and yang symbol, the duality symbol, to make better sense of the beautiful gift of empathy. Yin is darkness, feminine, receptive, magnetic, passive, and linked to the realm of emotions, feelings, and instincts. Yang is light, masculine, active, electric, direct, and linked to the realm of logic, intellect, and mind. Empathy is concerned with emotions, feelings, and instincts, moreover intuition, the subconscious mind, the imagination, and the spiritual, astral, and ethereal planes. The shadow self, which is essential for healing, self-development, and light integration, is linked to darkness or feminine energy. Empathy, compassion, nurturing, instincts, sacred knowledge, ancient wisdom, powerful subconscious insights, and all other empathic qualities are connected to the shadow lands, the darkness within and around. So, empathy is more “yin” than “yang.”

All things exist in a polarity- yin and yang flows through all living things. Yet nothing is supposed to exist in an extreme forever. Energies, our personalities, and our likes, desires, and interests are supposed to flow, balance, and unify. Like the symbol for duality, yin and yang are designed to complement each other. If we look at narcissists, empaths’ opposite, we can see that they are self-serving, superficial, and extremely egotistical. They appear to be of the light (yang), yet, deep down, miss out on a lot of beautiful qualities. Empaths embody yin energy, however they are not dark; quite the contrary, they are full of love, kindness, and grace to show and share. All empaths are emotionally intelligent, mature, sensitive, empathic, and wise too, and emotions are connected to feminine energy. So, this is all very useful to be aware of when exploring your own empath nature.

Empaths are masters of natural healing powers, psychic instincts, intuition, selflessness, and shadow work, and these are all born from darkness, from the divine feminine. Shadow work involves seeing the light and dark and then aiming to transmute and alchemize."
