Let’s start with what didn’t work. I’m not a fan of the narrator. She’s fine, I guess, but not the best at male voices. The chapters flipped between the female lead and male lead, and I often struggled to recall who’s mind I was in until gender was identified.

Moving on to the storyline. I was convinced this was a standard Pretty Woman trope, at least in the beginning. Actually, I was not even a little interested in the male lead for the first 7 chapters; he grew on my by the end of the book and I hope in the next book I might start respecting him. However the female lead, Elizabeth, is not your typical call girl (admittedly I don’t actually know a typical call girl, but from a theatrical perspective..). Elizabeth is haunted by a mysterious and privileged past. She’s not who she seems to be, while at the same time she’s exactly who she seems to be. I want to know more about the family and the actions that have brought her to the life she lives and the choices she makes. I have my theories, and I look forward to the next book. Overall, entertaining and engaging story.

Elizabeth, an Audiobook by Lexy Timms, is the tantalizing story of Phillip and Elizabeth. He needs something special to complete a huge business deal…he needs Elizabeth. It requires that he be a devoted family man…so, he needs a family. She is exactly what he needs!

I enjoyed these characters soooooooo much!! Elizabeth is so much more than meets the eye! She’s refined, beautiful, able to work a room like a pro, and makes the ‘job’ seem effortless and easy! Phillip is stodgy, rude, opinionated, and obsessed with the next big deal! It would take a special person to get beyond his barriers.

This Audiobook was exquisitely narrated by Molly Secours. To tackle the performance of all of the characters with one narrator is daunting! But, she was incredible!!! She beautifully created each character and their individual personalities and nuances. Made this wonderful story even better!!!

Elizabeth is kind of a darker, grittier version of Pretty Woman. Plus, there's the added element of suspense, and this story has an air of tension about it. There are enough differences that I wasn't bothered by the comparison, and I did get invested in the story, so it's not really a drawback for me. What did turn out to be a drawback for me was the MMC. Phillip irritated me for quite a bit of the book. I think maybe he was supposed to in order to highlight how good Elizabeth is in situations you wouldn't expect from a high-paid escort. So, irritated or not, it worked for the storyline. I'll admit that I'm still not sold on Phillip, but I'll reserve harsh judgment until at least the next part of the story. Speaking of, this one does end in a cliffhanger, and it revolves around the suspense in this romantic suspense.
Molly Secours gives voice to the characters, and her performance is very good. This was my first time listening to this narrator, and I enjoyed the listen. She does a good job with the tension of the story - both the suspense and the attraction between Elizabeth and Phillip. I'll definitely listen to her again.
As for the story, I'm invested in Elizabeth's journey, so I'll be looking forward to seeing how things go, especially after the last few paragraphs of this one.
