I've really enjoyed the first two books. there's a lot of action and political intrigue. the mc is coming to grasp with what he must do to become emperor and sometimes that means you need to rely on enemies. the narration duo is outstanding. katana Jones is becoming one of the best narrators out there.

This was an enjoyable book to listen to. It isn't all about the MC and his power but the people he is uplifting. The characters are awesome and i am looking forward to the next book!

This is a great second book for the series and it just leaves me wanting more and more! I received this free copy for an honest review and with all honesty it is one of the best audiobook series I have heard. The story is great, with a strong MC that strives for justice but gets more and more power. And the audio is great, narration, even effects for the ñewd scenes. This is a series you don't want to miss.

It keeps getting more and more exciting!

This story continues to progress. The MC has fought to not become emperor but now that fight may no longer be possible with the events moving forward around him. Im really looking forward to book 3 to see how this story progresses forward.

The narration by Gabriel Michael and Katana Jones has been great. Excellent narration duo for this series.

I got these two audiobooks for reviews and I loved them! Gabriel Michaels and Katana Jones are my favorites for dual narrators in this genre! The life they breath into their work can’t be properly described…!
They shape their voices for the characters and the tone of the scenes. They actually laugh, suck in their breath, modulate their voice and whatever else they can do to make the characters more organic! It’s a work of art and almost magical!

Now to the book itself. I really liked these two books. The characters develop organically and seem more real for what you could imagine for medieval fantasy. With courts, plots within plots, geopolitical upheaval caused by power hungry nobles… with magic and various fantasy racial abilities.

I would love for this series to continue but it seems like this series was put on the back burner which saddens me…

When it comes to a sequel, I am personally looking for everything that made the last book worth it and then some. In my opinion that is this book. I absolutely 110% love this author's storytelling. When I first came across this author I consumed quite literally everything he had available including this series. At the time I got into it it appeared to me to be a dead series and I still picked it up. Now after so long the first two books have gotten the audio treatment and we have a tentative release date for the ending of the trilogy. That tentative release date should be September of 2023 and I fully expect it to also get the audio treatment. The narration team is quite literally one of my all-time favorite teams. Easily top three and only because it's so hard to choose a number one. I think it's safe to say that I eagerly await the conclusion to this trilogy and I definitely recommend to anybody reading this review that they pick it up. These days Audible has this little marker that states that I got a review code for free but my review on the original eBook was all my own and I just happened to luck into a free code for this which is like a nice little extra whip cream on top I suppose you could say for something that I already love. I really cannot wait to see what the author comes up with next. I actually, just as I was getting ready to leave this review, picked up “Demon’s Throne” book 3 which is also out now and it's another one that I highly recommend by this author. Lastly, I'll just say well done to everybody who had a hand in bringing this story to us, the Audible listeners.

Man, I just effing love Hish. Also Iladriel is just such a great character and I absolutely love how Katana Jones puts on a French accent. Once again, whoever had the idea to have katana Jones moaning in the background of the narration needs to get a bonus.
