Acerca de esta escucha

Felicity Carrol would rather be doing just about anything other than attending balls or seeking a husband. What she really wants to do is continue her work using the latest forensic methods and her photographic memory to help London police bring murderers to justice. So when her friend Scotland Yard Inspector Jackson Davies, weak from injury, discovers a murder in a wild mining town in Montana that echoes the terrible crimes in England, Felicity decides to go herself.

In Placer, Montana, her first obstacle is handsome lawman Thomas Pike, who uses his intuition as much as his Colt to keep law and order in this unruly town. When the murderer strikes again, Felicity begins to suspect Davies is correct: Jack the Ripper has come to America. Felicity sets out to find the killer in a town chock full of secrets, shadows, and suspects, but as the body count rises, this intrepid sleuth faces her most dangerous adversary yet - and discovers that not all killers are as they seem.

Good story, good characters, good reading by Lillian Rachel, but this is not your usual *cosy* mystery. It was a little too gory and gruesome for me.

Good Story but Slightly Too Gruesome for my Tastes

I liked the first- her struggles with her father, loss of a mentor, trying to work solving crimes when it wasn’t something done by women or by the upper class. She was arrogant and somehow magically good at everything. But in the sequel she was anti woman and rude while never actually being right. I couldn’t stand the character.

The protagonist became unbearable

This is the second Felicity Carrol mystery. In the "Murderous Menace" Felicity follows the trail of serial killer Jack the Ripper to a western mining town. As an English lady in the hardscrabble west Felicity does not fit in, but she finds freedom in a place that operates without the restrictions of British proprieties. She continues to push the boundaries of traditional female roles, even out west, and she endears herself to the townspeople thanks to her dogged pursuit of justice. This is another fun read. I hope there will be more to this series!

Another Adventure for Fearless Felicity Carrol

I really enjoy strong female protagonist of this Era in stories, but I really found it difficult to understand her blind naivety about her biases and seemly lack of understanding of what having evidence means. In the 1st book she also blamed the wrong person and struggled with the need for evidence and couldn't understand why the police didn't believe her without it ... but from the 1st to 2cd book a long time had passed where she had been doing investigations. I had thought maybe the character would have matured on that front. That didn't seem to be the case.. at times, I struggled to listen to her thoughts and comments on "why they don't believe me".

Other than the above, I did think it was a creative and entertaining story. I like the narration for the books a lot, very enjoyable.

Good, but not great

Patricia Marcantonio made me feel as though I was seeing through Felicity’s eyes. I have read and watched everything that has been written about Jack the Ripper. Patricia was factual, riveting and still held my interest with a twist.

Felt like I was there with Felicity.

I liked the first to books in this series. They were a light read. The story line is pretty far fetched for the time period in the book but the books weren’t horrible… until this one. I’m trying to figure out if it is just bad narration or a boring predictable plot that mad me give up on it.

Silly predictable plot
