Acerca de esta escucha

Barbara Pamplin’s life was changed by 50, 3, and 3. That's 50 days in intensive care, 3 open heart surgeries, and 3 deaths and resuscitations - all in the fall of 2017. Barbara is a passionate storyteller, committed to inspiring Black women and others to celebrate and engage in the soul work of personal transformation, to confront the health crisis among Black women at its root level.

Part memoir, part self-help audiobook, From Fat, Black, and Unlovable to Beautiful. Powerful. Love. looks through the lens of family dynamics, personal narrative-making, and the legacy of slavery along with institutional racism to examine toxic beliefs and their impact on Black women’s health. The author shares intimate stories and offers personal practices that guide us through self-reflection, perspective-taking, and celebration - all in service of healing and transformation to reclaim our well-being.

This is a beautiful story about life, love, family, and self actualization. It is spirit and soul, and it is heartfelt and challenging. This is so much more than a self help book. For me, it's a story about coming to terms with the woman that you can be when you stop allowing fear and expectations of others to guide your life. Today was my second time listening to this, and I am reminded how necessary the author's words are. Her voice is soothing and rings of familiarity, like I'm hearing from a dear friend.

This is a must `read` for any black woman who needs to be reminded of her value and worth. Listen to it today. And then to all the other women who do not fit into the construct of blackness, you should listen too. Any woman can relate to feeling of inadequacy and just not thereism....
Chewing from teachers like this author encourages and affirms in a way in which we all can relate.

Definitely Ministers To The Hungry Soul
