Philip Pirrip, also known as Pip, a blacksmith’s apprentice in a country village, falls in love with Estella, the beautiful but cold-hearted daughter of eccentric Miss Havisham, a wealthy woman who lives in seclusion. He becomes motivated and aspires to become a gentleman to win her affection.
His hopes are fueled when he receives a large and mysterious inheritance from a mysterious benefactor, this sets off a chain of events that will change his life.
As Pip ascends the social ladder, he becomes ashamed of his humble origins and distances himself from his childhood friends.
Throughout the novel, themes of social injustice, redemption, and the corrupting influence of wealth are explored.
"Great Expectations" is celebrated for its vivid characters, intricate plot twists, and Dickens' sharp insights into Victorian society.

This particular story was moderately interesting as far as classics go, hampered in part by a somewhat stilted narration, but it got the job done. That said, this would be a descent experience for any who are merely curious (if you have any strong feelings about Dickens ... either read it on your own or skip it entirely).
I was given this free advance review/listener copy (ARC) audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
Not a bad way to get exposure to Dickens
