Acerca de esta escucha

Though often overlooked, Grover Cleveland was a significant figure in American presidential history. Having run for President three times and gaining the popular vote majority each time, despite losing the electoral college in 1892, Cleveland was unique in the line of nineteenth-century Chief Executives. Presidential historian Henry F. Graff revives Cleveland's fame, explaining how he fought to restore stature to the office in the wake of several weak administrations. The elements of a rags-to-riches story and accounts of the political world that created American leaders before the advent of modern media are also presented here.©2002 by Henry F. Reseñas de la Crítica

"An absorbing study...deftly sketched." (Kirkus Reviews)
"Graff offers new insight into a President who is often overlooked...This [book] is a valuable edition to the literature on the Presidency and is a compelling argument for taking Cleveland seriously as a President." (Library Journal)

I have heard a lot of presidential biographies, and I would put this one near the bottom of my recommended list. The reason is largely because Cleveland wasn’t all that interesting despite his two nonconsecutive terms. The narrator was a monotone who didn’t seem too interested in making the story interesting to listeners and his habit of pausing before reading quoted material was irritating.

Unexceptional Book about unexceptional President
