Nate’s there to make a deal, but he won’t say no to a tryst....

Nate Semkins’ career is about to skyrocket. All he needs to do is help developers turn one tiny hamlet into a tourist hotspot. When his car breaks down in Three Lakes, it threatens to derail the entire deal. He’s trying to sell Three Lakes, not stay. But the local mechanic might be a nice distraction. His busy career means he only has time for the occasional hookup, not a relationship, but one small-town guy might be able to make him change his ways - if only he is brave enough to face some home truths.

This mechanic will repair a closed-off heart....

Ian Garland is happy to put down roots in Three Lakes and loves the fact that he knows everybody. Then Nate Semkins limps into town with a broken car, and Ian’s world tilts on its axis. They say opposites attract but Ian has already been down that road - and it didn't end well. He promised himself he wouldn't fall for another ambitious man, but the chemistry between them is hot enough to burn. Ian will do anything to save his home and prove to the sexy big-city real estate agent that it has its own kind of charm.

I loved seeing Nate change and grow for the better. He and Ian made a sweet couple. I live the small town feel where everybody knows everybody. The author captures it very well. I'm hoping Tyler is okay. I liked that both men were willing to compromise for each other, because love was the important ingredient. I look forward to the next book. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a good job.

The narrator did a great job.

I have never wanted to shake MC’s so badly!

This is a great story of finding love where you least expect it.

Communication...it’s not just a word!

This was a sweet romance with two likable main characters. My biggest issue was the use of the cliche Big Misunderstanding which would’ve been easily resolved with adult conversation.

I enjoyed Nate and Ian's story! They are two guys coming from entirely different backgrounds to help each other realize they were both on the wrong path in life. Characters were relatable, the story was nicely written. It didn't wow me, but I'll definitely read more in the series. It all wrapped up in a very nice HEA... except Tyler... What happened to him?! Maybe he will resurface later in the series. The scene at the very end felt out of place until I realized it was setting up the next book in the series.

Narrator Richard Reynolds did a great job!

There was an audio production issue that drove me crazy, though. The time between chapters was even less than the pause between sentences. Add to that the chapters switching POVs and I struggled to catch up to who was telling each part of the story.

I received an audio copy of this story in exchange for an unbiased review.

Sweet, low angst, well narrated

but they don't have the quaint, small-town charm. ~Michael Goss~
This was a sweet, easy going romance. It was a light listen with an interesting plot. It feels like nothing is working out for Nate when his car needs a part, he can't find a room to stay in a busy town and gets stranded on the side of the road. This story was a great start to this series as it eases you into the small town residents and builds for the next book. I felt like the fight Nate and Ian had was kind of silly, mainly miscommunication issues, but at the same time it was a smart way to add a little bit of drama without overdoing it.
I will say that the best part of the story was the narrator! This is the first time I've listened to Richard Reynolds, but he was wonderful. I love his voice and the depth he gave to all of the different characters. I really felt like I was part of the book just hanging out with friends and hearing about their lives. Really good! I was provided with a copy and voluntarily chose to leave a review. This is my honest review.

I really liked the story and the characters but I found difficult to identify each character since narrator doesn't make any difference between them. I feel that more "ups and downs" in the speech would be more aligned with the story. However, it's a good listening!

'Home Truths' starts off the small-town romance series of 'Love in Three Lakes' with Ian and Nate's story. Ian grew up in small Three Lakes, Oregon and is the mechanic/tow operator in town. Big-city Nate is a realtor with a career-boosting opportunity to sell a large property in Three Lakes. The men meet when Nate's car breaks down outside town. With no place to stay while repairs are made, Ian invites Nate to stay with him in his apartment. Sweet, small-town love happens in short order.

Sasha Goldie has written a good, almost angst-free love story featuring two men who think love is out of reach. After acknowledging feelings for one another, they both begin to realize it's time to give themselves a chance at love. Both Ian and Nate individually begin planning a future with the other man. A small misunderstanding has them wondering if they're making the right choice. Thankfully, the period of miscommunication is brief and they decide to take their shot at a relationship. The character growth in this book is a wonderful highlight.

I enjoyed the narration by Richard Reynolds. His tone is perfectly suited to Goldie's story. This is a new-to-me narrator; I'll be on the lookout for more of his work.

I received a free review copy of this audiobook, at my request. This is my voluntary opinion of it.

Recommended. It's great for your small-town-love craving.

So this is a new to me author and I really enjoyed the writing style, the build up of the relationship the playfulness of the characters and the realness of the emotions. I'm looking forward to see what happens next and to getting some answers for this left up in the air. Reynolds did a good job with the narration really bringing the story to life.

Great Start to the series

I would not usually choose a gay romance story but glad I decided to try this one. I'm a real sucker for 'ambition thwarted by love.' Looking forward to more in this series. If Three Lakes were a real town I would want to live there. And the relationship and dialogue ring true throughout.

This is the first book in A Small Town Romance (Love in Three Lakes) with developed characters. The store is about city boy Nate a real estate agent on the fast track and county boy Ian a mechanic who is stuck on his ways. Even knowing that at first glance they may be wrong for each other both men learn that the first impression is not always as they seem, and communication is key to any relationship. This is a great story about opposites attract. I cannot wait for the next book in this series. The narration was very well done.

Loved it.
