Acerca de esta escucha

With only three books, Katharine Ashe has already established herself as a force to be reckoned with in the world of historical romance fiction. In the Arms of a Marquess, the third novel in her Rogues of the Sea series, once again showcases this remarkable author - whom reviewers have enthusiastically compared to Johanna Lindsey - and her amazing ability to mix danger and passion with outrageous action and breathtaking sensuality. If you are not yet a Katharine Ashe fan, you will most assuredly be one after listening to this enthralling tale featuring pirates, smugglers, mistaken identities, British lords and ladies...and a beautiful, successful, yet shockingly unwed Regency miss who seeks help in a most perilous clandestine matter from a rogue English marquis, the only man she ever truly desired.

Contains mature themes.

Narrator was difficult to listen to. I wanted to rip my hair out every time she said "Saint John." Ugh! The name St. John is pronounced "Sin-gin." Seriously, watch or listen to any version of Jane Eyre, ever. She had a number of other weird mispronounciations, and overall, she's not my favorite narrator, but this time it was a little less than what I've heard her do before.

Overall the story was confusing and not the easiest to follow, but the worst part was how uncomfortable the MMC thought process made me feel. I don't think it was intended to be that way, but I kept wondering why he had such an issue thinking all women were so horrible, it disturbed me a little....also disturbing was his demand that he should have her trust when he'd done nothing to earn it. (Example: she saw him doing things with a specific person and then going with that person to a specific location and those 2 actions made her believe he was doing this specific act...which is a very reasonable conclusion any reasonable adult or child would make...and when she asks him straight out and directly about it like a mature adult, he chooses to respond by putting HER on the defensive instead of jumping at the chance to clear things up and reassure her, he chooses to borderline gaslight her......) I wish there had been more action on his part other than the plot line that could have redeemed him in my eyes sooner, not just a pretty speech at the end. I wanted him to actually earn her trust, not just expect or demand it.

Not my favorite. Glad it was free

Summary: I didn't really get it.

Some of the story was vey good, The sex scenes were very very sensual, better than o0% of the "romance" I've read. The MCs were good but I really didn't get where they were coming from emotionally. It was all tied up with the MMC family responsibility. That made sense at first, it was a race thing but then the focused changed to the spying was the actual family business. What? Too many characters to keep straight and too many unanswered questions. These flaws made even more pronounced when narrated by a mediocre narration. Hard to understand her sometimes, it drops the flow.

Confusing
