Acerca de esta escucha

It was just a bet . . . until feelings got involved.

This job sucks but someone's got to do it. My readers expect me to chronicle my very real, very steamy encounters in my novels. I'd never want to disappoint my fans, but the creative well has run a bit dry. Burlington, Vermont, seems like a good place to fill it up. This town offers a tempting array of artists, craftsmen, farmers, lumbersexuals . . . and so many beards.

But no one prepared me for Brody. He's young. He's hot. He's definitely a grump. And he's getting under my skin. Where I want him is under my bed sheets.

When my friend bets I'll never be able to get Brody there, I make winning my mission. Turns out being with Brody is more than a plot device. He's so very wrong for my life . . . but is he right for my heart?

Contains mature themes.

I truly enjoyed this auto book. It was interesting, funny, emotional and whimsical. I can’t wait to listen to another book from this author. Also, the narrator was very very good as well.

Not bad but it was too short for my liking. But I still love this series

Kinda short

Logan sort of sees himself almost as a character and frankly at the beginning of the book I didn’t like him very much. But as he begins to help Brody for the sake of really helping and not just to win a bet I began to see him in a new light. I loved the ways he stepped in and helped Brody see his own potential. I was so upset at the “third act break-up”. I like the way things are resolved in the end. The narrator did a wonderful job voicing both characters.

I ugly cried on the final chapter. I can't believe it! This series is taking me through it. I just realized I skipped book 9. Now I got to go back to Turnabout.

My favorite so far in this series. It pushed all the right buttons. Such a great book.

So good!

The expert narration, the story, and the unique CHaf ("currently happy af.") I despise HEA/HFN.

So much potential, IMO, but it's not very well written (excluding the few intimate bits😍.)
And the characters aren't well rounded and relatable. Chemistry: wobbly at best.

But it's far from awful.

The best way I can describe it: 3 writers were given an identical and detailed outline of the story. One is a good, solid writer and the second is average.

The 3rd didn't take their Adderall.

This story is snippets, paragraphs and pages from all three novelists.

I find this book far more entertaining than many others in the series and definitely reccommend it.

What stood out the most?

Kale Williams is a great narrator…really kept me engaged and made each character distinguishable! I really like all the characters (well except the ex) and the storyline. Again it was a little fast on the being in love, but at least this couple seemed to spend more time together to make me say maybe. Looking forward to Skylar’s story!

Brody and Logan

I've read this author before, but never as a solo. I listened to the audio book. This is part of the Vino and Veritas world. Logan is an erotic author from the UK who is visiting Burlington, Vermont. Brody is a grumpy local who's world keeps taking hits from his ex. Logan is a bed hopping player who fall in love with a local. Slow burn. Brody is a sweetheart who do not deserve what has happened to him. This book ends in a HEA.

Part of the Vino and Veritas world.

The story is great and I loved the narration. Got through it pretty much in one go and enjoyed the fact that it developed the town's story even further.
So please understand that I am being persnickety when I say the following. It could have been longer and more developed. When the author character in the book said he had 24000 words so he's half way through his next book, it confused me. As far as I know, the industry standard for a novel is 80,000 to 100,000 words. Not that quantity is quality, but it would have been a chance to develop the characters better, make their feelings more complex, and maybe show a little more of what their happily ever after looks like. The other thing that bothered me, and this is a personal pet peeve, is the whole him and me versus he and I thing. I don't understand why writers of all people mess this up so much. It's not that difficult to tell the difference between a subject of a sentence and an object of a prepositional phrase. but in this book it goes to step further because the phrase is used correctly and then the author character internally sneers at the person using it, saying it's grammatically incorrect. Argh! Where are the editors in all this.
All in all, it's a good book and I would definitely read other books by this author, but maybe not the best in this series.

Good story, would've been better if it was longer
